He might be trying to boost his ranking, and get featured in searches on Amazon, promotions and so on.

As you know, the number of books for an independent author to sell to be noticed is quite small.

For many a typical regular book run for a non-fiction trade paperback can be 3000.

My brother has a book on Amazon that he relentlessly hawks called The Essential Phone Interview Handbook.

So far he's sold 10,000 and is due for a second printing -- but in almost all cases because he lectures, gives seminars, teaches college classes and pumps his book!

@1, my god, I think you might be right, Captain Obvious!

Here's a little tip from someone who buys a lot of books: self-published ebooks selling for a dollar are garbage. Don't even bother.

I think this story has more to do with a creepy entitled guy and how she didn't feel empowered enough to tell him to fuck off, than the desperation of a self-published author.

Tried to consider, tripped on the superfluous and childish ! nomenclature for identifying the dog, ran headlong into the bitter gender politics. Decided to do something less wearisome.
