That man is insane. I'm sure there is some diagnosable, clinical disorder going on. Is there a psychologist in the house?

I'm no Reagan fan, but Glenn Beck couldn't give a "Reaganesqe" speech if he was reading one of Reagan's transcripts from a teleprompter.

Oh--that's right: Republicans never use teleprompters!

I think that the rich should pay a higher share in taxes than they’re paying now, across the board.

But certain millionaires should be taxed at an even higher rate: Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Steven Colbert (just ‘cuz), the Hiltons, anyone who’s ever been in a reality show… tax ‘em at 75% min.

Reagan-esque in tone? Does that mean the speeches will be liberally peppered with untrue anecdotes based on old Readers Digest stories?

So...everything he says will start with "Well...I was talking to Nancy last night..."

Alzheimer-riddled speeches? So, nothing out of the ordinary for him, then.

His followers are exactly that: "authoritarian follower" instances who love to spout an anti-authoritarian line when they dislike the authority, but long for domination with the trappings of authority.

This is the same as his denigration of academia as he uses its trappings---suede patches, chalk-boards, the Glasses of Understanding---ostensibly in mockery but in reality to try to glom onto the authority they still bear for many people. (See also: Creation "Science".)

Maybe he'll tell us how he liberated Nazi concentration camps while he was making movies in California.

Another political slut who will fold up shop after the election we hope? none of the articles have any reality based in them and they are all just media slut coxing for brain dead Republicans.

Republicans have billions to spend on stupid insane dreams and they pay for Rush Limbaugh's and make sure they are on the spell checker so you can spell their names.

Its more proof that its not about the middle east as Obama has carried the Republicans game plan with the wars and yet he gets no support or even a nod of thanks from the brain dead Republicans.

Nice little ego stroking for a guy who's too chicken to actually make a run for president and fail miserably.

@1
Got to agree. I don't think "fucking idiot" qualifies here. He knows what he's doing and he's betting that it will appeal to his audience. Which will keep the money coming in.

If his audience abandons him because of this then he will be a "fucking idiot". But I think he knows them well enough to know what they want to hear and see.

Even if he loses a big chunk of them and only brings in a million dollars a year for himself ... he will be bringing in a million dollars a year.

"Crazy" sells. As long as it is the right brand of "crazy".

@16: Yep. This guy knows better. He's not crazy. He's playing a role and soaking up millions, like any good megapreacher.

The creepiest authoritarians are the ones who, while being completely mainstream claim persecution and hint at revolution to maintain the status quo or revert to a mythical "perfect" time that never existed.
