It's not impossible that Rmoney could get elected. I don't suppose that these donations would be refundible, though, just in case...

I heard he's also building a tower to be closer to God. Everything is going smoothly since everyone he hired to build it speaks the same language (i.e. Spanish), and the structure is really holding up well.

I hear he intends to climb the tower once construction is complete to meet with God and snag that all-important endorsement.

I imagine a lot of GOP donors haven't seen The Producers.

You folks are dumber even than I thought.

This thing wouldn't be held at the Buffalo, New York Holiday Inn, you know. Reserving space, arranging catering and so on actually means planning ahead for the kind of site and catering people would expect from this.

To put it into perspective, a friend rented a house near Munich for Octoberfest. Desirable location at a desirable time meant he had to book it 18 months ahead. And that was him and his family, not a couple hundred people needing rooms.

But hey Constant, keep lying (public masturbation and dogfighting,) using irrelevant issues (Romney tax returns,) and so on in your pathetic attempt to injure the name of a good man. The rank fear it shows is hilarious.

@10 - I guess it's my turn to tell you how you're a goddamn idiot. Lucky me.

Did you know that Munich in late September is not exactly the same as anywhere in the US in late January, especially when it comes to tourism? A comfortable house for a few people near Munich is hard to find in September because many, many people from around the world want to be there at that time. A large block of hotel rooms in Georgia or Washington or Michigan or whatever in late January is not so hard to find because only a few people are making plans for such a nondescript time in an unspecified place (an inauguration party can be held pretty much anywhere). If the first hotel they try is booked up, they go down the street to the next fancy place.

And while it may make sense to make such arrangements with the hotels and caterers and discreet call boys well in advance, selling tickets and advertising is another matter entirely. I get that it is customary to refer to one's chosen candidate as "the next president of the United States," but there is a line. The "next president" doesn't start picking out the curtains for the Oval Office until it's official.

@10: Nuh-uh. This isn't him PLANNING an inaugural retreat. This is him SELLING tickets to something that is in all likelihood not actually going to happen. If Romney loses the election, as he probably will, will any of those donors get their fifty grand back? Doubtful.
Hey, you pretend to be some sort of economic and legal expert around here, right? Does that count as fraud?

@12 It could be worse for Obama at this point, but don't get so comfortable. The economy could go into a bad stretch, gas prices could spike (perhaps with a little collusion), Romney could pick a competent enough veep who could debate Biden (no more "maverick" picks, for sure), and the GOP PACs have more ammo than their Democrat counterparts. Then there's the stuff you can't plan for, like "Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life!" Obama has been surfing the wave so far, but keep your fingers crossed.

Someone on his staff probably just discovered Kickstarter.

I think I mentioned this in another post once, but Romney (his employee) started pulling permits for a major remodel on his San Diego home. He knows damn well he's going to have 2013 free.
