"a British parliamentary panel concluded on Tuesday that Mr. Murdoch was 'not a fit person' to run a huge international company."

The oligarch managed to have rules changed in several countries so he could build a propaganda/infotainment empire that stretches across the globe, traded media support of politicians in exchange for pushing the neoliberal agenda in much of the anglo world, paid dismally little taxes on profit, and when he claimed he didn't know that his employees ran the shop like a criminal enterprise, all these buffoons found to say is that he wasn't fit to run an international business? What a joke!

@ 3, I see that you're not a fan of British understatement, and also don't understand the significance of criticism coming from such quarters. We can't all be "fuck the fucking fuckers," you know.

Not trying to say that this will negate climate change, but global dimming is a real thing, it is not just a made up phenomenon. More clouds does equate to lower temperatures, and more particles in the air equate to more clouds.

Science!

Remember to show support for the undocumented worker community by using the phrase, "La migra viene". They'll appreciate it.

@4, Understatement is virtually indistinguishable from the prelude to a whitewash, especially considering the British government was ready to hand him dominance of the British media market less than a year ago despite his well documented trading of influence at the highest level.

I'm glad the Brit's parliament confirms what I've been saying all along. All he's done is take a lot of money and buy other companies only to slowly ruin them. Oh, and corrupt governments along the way. Now, if only I can get more people to realise their cable money is going to prop up this idiot's right wing Fox News.

Oh, thank [god] for pinko commie liberal activist judges.

I am only waiting until we move to indoctrinate my eldest daughter into the Lesbian Society of Cookie-Munching Campers. (aka LSCMC or GS)

@6 that’s really mean. And terribly funny.

@5: Venus is really cloudy, too. Completely obscured by clouds. And you can melt lead on the surface. I'm just sayin'.

@11: Haha, because every other environmental factor on Venus is exactly the same as it is on Earth right?

I do not know if there are any pop-up books available near you, but in a pinch, this wikipedia article will have to do.

A small correction about the school superintendent blurb. The distrust is not between parents' homes to their childrens' schools so much as it is between families and the District headquarters and between the schools and the District headquarters. The District leadership and the central administration are the focus of the distrust, not the schools.

Wait. Did you actually wake up to this song specifically or was it the original?

@14, this very song. Then I looked up the video and watched Tom Jones clone himself and then short circuit his clone with enthusiastic pelvic thrusting and thought, "I am indeed in hell."

Bicyclists, consider signing up for the June 2nd Earthworks Bicycyle Tour (free).

The Earthworks Tour is a new bicycle route that is being organized by the Kent Arts Commission. The tour connects four iconic landscapes in the Green River Valley that are all internationally recognized, but not well known locally. Three were designed by artists and the fourth is a nature preserve. They are the Herbert Bayer Earthwork, the Robert Morris Earthwork, Lorna Jordan’s Waterworks Gardens and the Green River Natural Resources Area.

Lost in the article about global warming "denialists" seizing upon cloud research as their latest argument against taking any action to curb carbon emissions is the fact that, in order to adopt this stance, they have to (quietly, surreptitiously) admit that temperatures actually are increasing. Or else their argument makes no sense whatsoever -- clouds are counteracting the warming that isn't happening?

Notice how the "science" behind their positions effortlessly shifts to accommodate any new pretext for not doing anything.
