There is no such thing as a Brontosaurus. It's an Apatosaurus.

@4 - Thank you. When my daughter was 3, she would have ripped Dominic a new one for the error.

Wow! You burn a lot of fossil fuel for a dinosaur. He should be way more colorful by the time he gets home, too. Put some green stripes and pink underside on the guy.

1) Get thee post-haste to the Natural History Museum in south Kensington, and say hello to the Diplodocus of my youth.

2) See Stephan Jay Gould - "Bully for the Brontosaurus" http://www.amazon.com/Bully-Brontosaurus…

Actually, it's a Plastosaurus, made from dinosaur byproducts, @4.

I have a mouse puppet, with the shockingly original name Mr. Mouse, and I do the same thing with him. As a matter of fact ALL the pictures from my 1st honeymoon are of him. Mr Mouse at a wine tasting, Mr Mouse eating wedding cake, Mr Mouse at the spa getting a massage. It was a blast.

@4 - Then consider it a model of a fictional beast. If it were a unicorn, would you be here reminding us all that there's no such thing as a unicorn?

@4 What @16 and @8 said. Plus we all know Apato would be a dumb name.

The picture in Domme is an excellent piece of photography. We used to do this, but it was with a friend's stuffed penguin that one of us stole and then shuttled to whomever was traveling that week/month.

Each picture was also accompanied with a ransom note or a personal letter written by the penguin, recounting the unending torture he was forced to endure at the hands of his captors.

I don't know if we ever gave that penguin back. Oh well...it was much more entertaining as a fictional kidnap victim than it ever was as a sedentary stuffed animal.

@ 17, your response, as well as the ones you gave the ol' "what they said" thumbs up to, are all crappy and lacking wit. (Wit is required if you're going to take on the person who corrects a glaring error.)

Everyone here will be happy to know that our household--not the least of whom being Bronto himself--is thoroughly aware of the longstanding apatosuarus/brontosaurus dispute that rages among scientists and nomenclatural debaters. Bronto, however, is clearly a brontosaurus.

When Pluto was stripped of its planethood, I shed not a tear. But when my daughter came home from elementary school and informed me that the Brontosaurus is just a fairy tale that modern dinosaur experts such as herself no longer believe in, I was shaken to my core.

That's why God created rainbow unicorns, Eric.

Mind you, their waste by-product is an ecological nightmare.

Best part about taking a big plastic trinket to Europe in your suitcase?! Less room in your suitcase/backpack to bring home cheap plastic trinkets! I bet you were glad to have an excuse not to buy that Benedict XVI toilet-seat cozy!
