I know McKenna's staff shits blood whenever Goldy skips into a room but I'm half as old or hairy as Goldy and the last time I checked, my vagina's got double the street cred.

Cienna wins SLOG for the day. Thanks for playing, folks, everybody come back Monday.

Why is it dumb to ban the Stranger from his events? Is he also somehow obligated to allow the Socialist Worker in too?

The Spanish Foyer (pronounced foy-yay) of the Olympic Hotel. The place where I misspent my youth....

I know a super-duper secret way to sneak in the ballroom balcony. Next time you need in there, just let Auntie Catalina know.....

@9 if at a public venue or using any public resources: yes.

@3 Even if you don't believe in freedom of the press or any of that sort of communist garbage, banning the Stranger from events makes him look like he's running scarred, and also gives the Stranger a lot more power than they would otherwise have.

I think it actually helps his campaign if he ignores the Stranger rather than making a big deal out of them.

My memory of Pretty Woman business-casual attire is pretty foggy, so I'm just imagining you as Joan Cusack from Working Girl instead.

@6 - that's exactly what he's doing. "Freedom of the press" does not mean that members of the "press" (in quotes for the Stranger) have the right to attend private campaign events on private property, nor has it ever. He doesn't have to allow what in this case are basically known Democratic operatives at his events, nor is he obligated to. No duty is being shirked.

The Stranger is on his shit list. Be proud of that Stranger, along with the consequences of being on said list.

I agree with @9 that they didn't have to let you in. And that it's a good thing he hates you all so much.

Also: I'm crushing on Cienna right now.

Sounds like all Stranger staff are barred from McKenna events, would it have anything to do with your non-stop petty attacks? They clearly have all of your photos printed out and handed to their staff.

@9, 10 - By specifically excluding the Stranger from events where other media are welcome (and especially at other events, where state law does require they be allowed), Rob McKenna is only drawing attention to his weird, petty vendetta against a small-time weekly rag. Every time they are hastily brushed out the door, he loses credibility.

I'm so sorry you were refyoozed! Now, when you write "Pretty-Woman-business-casual", do you mean one of the Juila Roberts outfits from the movie? As a 90s gay I noted her bare-midriff cockring top outfit (the one Toddlers and Tiaras recycled), a nice brown silk dress with white polka dots and hat to match, and a lovely red gown with white opera gloves. Which of these did you wear?

Or do you mean you dressed like the late Roy Orbison, black shades at all times?

@13 Non-stop petty attacks? Goldy has a personal vendetta against him, that's well known, and yes, this was a private event, but barring The Stranger is just helping them. For example, how many people remember what McKenna was talking about during the press conference where Goldy was barred? I had to think for a bit because all I really remembered about it is that McKenna is a crappy, crappy lawyer.

By banning The Stranger from politics he is not only making himself look like a small child throwing a tantrum, he is taking attention off his own talking points

As far as The Stranger being "real" journalists...I'm pretty sure their fake journalism broke a story that caused him to lose a staffer just this week...

McKenna is just afraid he might get asked REAL questions instead of the softball lobs he gets from his Seattle Times sycophants. Then his true right-wing agenda might be exposed, and he could no longer remain a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I'm guessing very few women in his "women's" group were of childbearing age or younger, nor have need of birth control either for contraception or medical reasons. Worse than the male members of the GOP who seek to control women's sexuality and uteri are the GOP women who do the exact same thing. Never mind that probably 1/2 of that crowd utilized Planned Parenthood, birth control, or had an abortion back in the day, they want to make sure other women - particularly poor women - don't have access to the same things that their wealth will ensure they have.

Thanks for reminding me, @16. I'd forgotten that Rob McKenna is a crappy, crappy lawyer. I was too busy thinking of him as an anal rip.

@19, nice! So I was too italics-focused. It's "business casual for a pretty woman" (and y'are, Blanche, y'are) not "a style from Pretty Woman". Thank you!

@22, I swear to bebejesus I closed that tag @20. I even tested it in preview. It looked fine after posting. Then somehow BLAMMO. This website is what I blame. I thought it was all Bailo the other day but I fear the at-risk tech youth need to examine their code or whatnot...

When the fuck are you stupid assholes going to sue the ass off of McKenna and draw serious attention to his obvious disrespect for the law?

Pick1 25
@24 This one was technically advertised as a private event.

He was completely within his rights to bar Cienna from the event. The fact that he even wanted to is the problem...

It's childish and stupid.
