For-profit schools are more concerned with making profits than education?

How can this be?!?

@1 - I for one am shocked (shocked!) that this would be the case! Next thing you'll tell me our #1 awesome profit driven healthcare system is the same!

Among the biggest offenders, EdCorp, parent of Art Institutes right here in Seattle, majority owned by Goldman Sachs. (What? You're shocked to find that an investment bank makes money off student loans AND the tuition it collects?)

The Frontline dealing with for-profit schools infuriated me - infuriated at the greed, the sheer greed, behind "we want to open college to everyone."

And there has been more than one Le Cordon Bleu story (how were they able to co-opt that once very respectable name?) about how they promise a lucrative career in the culinary arts (for, like, $30,00 a year - read government loans) and graduates, if able to find work at all, landing only minimum wage jobs.

As I said...infuriating.

...and, of course, diploma mills degrade everyone else's degrees.
