$3.6Billion worth of teams, but the game will be ruined by scab officials because the league wants their part-timers to become full-time plus take a 16% pay cut.

@3 ftw. They're willing to gamble the reputation of the league = $3.6 billion to get a million or two in concessions. It's like Romney gambling the Presidency to save one or two million with his offshore entities.

I've not been following the referee strike and didn't know the league was expecting/demanding a pay cut, but I do know that every time one of them blows an important call I hear everyone going on about how ridiculous it is that the NFL is the only of the major leagues to not employ full-time officials.

Also, I'd hope folks are willing to at least give the replacement guys a chance. They seem to be catching an inordinate amount of vitriol for doing what's gotta be a ridiculously challenging with minimal training.

Hey, my lowly Redskins (one playoff appearance in about seven or so seasons) are ranked third. But I guess having an owner who is a businessman and not a football guy gets you lots of cash but no rings.

Being based in one of the constantly wealthiest parts of the nation doesn't hurt either.
