I favor Universal Single Payer. This medicaid expansion is a step in the right direction, but it is too little of a step.

What are Republicans thinking?

Probably "I don't want no commie medicaid if people I don't like (read, blacks) get it too"

How do you propose we sell the Small Gub'mint, taxes is too dang high!' teabaggers on the idea that the federal government picks up the tab and that's a good thing?

2, 4 nail it. They'll always oppose something that benefits everybody, because everybody includes... you know, them. Those people. They'll always support screwing over their own lives if it means the others are SOL as well.

Who's paying for all this free stuff?

Certainly not Jay Inslee, he raided his 401k to pay for his roof repairs on a $175k/year Congressman's salary. If he's that foolish with his own money, I'm not letting him anywhere near mine.

Holy shit, this is AWESOME! Insanely sane logic, facts, and data. Never saw anything like this from no math-hating, fantasy-loving Republicans. Can somebody tell the Republicans about this posting? Oh wait, I forgot. All the Republican trolls are already reading everything on The Stranger. Well, you closeted Republicans you: stop your existential battle raging inside you and just do the right thing. Vote Jay Inslee for Governor, Brad Owen for Lieutenant Governor, Bob Ferguson for Attorney General, and Kathleen Drew for Secretary of State. Hell, you can even keep your Tea Party fanatics John Koster and Clint Didier. Just let us adults do what needs to be done to turn the state around, ok?

There is a much better solution that neither side is talking about. Follow the Oregon Medicaid waiver model which is extending care while moving them toward a more functional delivery system. As this program is designed it will just extend eligibility into a system that is dysfunctional causing tremendous strain on quality and timely access. The Oregon plan passed nearly unanimously with strong support from both Republicans and Democrats. We should follow their lead.
