At least once a week I ask myself: why, oh why did the Seattle P-I go under and the Seattle Times survive? Why couldn't it have been the other way around? The Seattle Times is such a piece of shit.

Ok, can we all agree that it is actually The Bellevue Times? It doesn't represent, understand or properly report for Seattle. It only uses Seattle in its name because the rest of the country doesn't know where the fuck Bellevue is - or they associate the name only with the mental institution, which isn't wholly unreasonable for this Bellevue either. Given The Times' unabashed backflips for McKenna, as well as its apparent inability to do math, and the eastside's penchant for electing idiots like Dave Reichert and being ruled by Kemper Freeman, it seems like a perfect fit.

The Times has ceaselessly screwed over 1240 (the charter school initiative) as well. They had a misprinted headline (for an op-ed against it - they support it), they had the wrong initiative numer in the letters to the editor, they had - twice in a week - the same photo of a Yes supporter in the paper - it goes on and on.
They are truly shameless and any pretense that they are journalists or professional pundits is gone.

@13: Sad, isn't it? A giant corporation does a better job of providing a newspaper than does a local family that supposedly cherishes journalism. The Seattle Times has become a sad rag that prints day-old stories from the New York Times and shills to keep the Blethens rich at the expense of other taxpayers because they're too fucking lazy and entitled to actually go out and earn a buck: Repeal the Estate Tax!
