I wonder how many of the Seattle Times editorial staff are hoping to be headhunted by The Onion.

Just because the Times is politically powerless now doesn't mean the editorial board is any less pushy.

@5 (floater): No, you're not cynical. Washington's Democrats are progressive-ish on social issues, but when it comes to the big-money issues, they know what side their bread is buttered on. They've been in power for -- jeez, since I can't remember when -- and we still have the country's most egregiously regressive tax system. They're Democrats in a rich man's state.

The Times is so funny (and shameless). It's almost as if they think what they have to say makes sense AND is relevant. You can only imagine what when through Inslee's head as he read it (if he even did).

Look for the next editorial to call the near-win of I-1240 for charter schools "a mandate". The race is now

Yes - 50.84
No - 49.16

A difference of 1.68%. The trend is for Yes but boy, it is nice to know that Bill Gates could not just buy this outright.

The Seattle Times=shameless business rag. The P-I had some credibilty and David Horsey. The Weekly is a waste of paper! Thank God for the Stranger.

They should change the name of the Seattle Times to the Washington Times. Oh yeah, there's already an identical paper with that name....

@2 I miss the P-I as well. I think the Stranger has really upped its game in the last 5 years to compensate, at least.

The only good part of Seattle Times was Ask an Uptight Seattleite.

Wait, no, that's Seattle Weekly.

The Times editorial is just precious. I love that voice-of-authority by which they pretend to be credible. It's so cute!

Well, Jay did say he wasn't going to raise taxes. You want him to prove he is a liar?

I don't know, man. I hope it turns out alright. Honestly I was very disappointed, numerous times, with Christine Gregoire, a Democrat seemingly without convictions. It's like a benefit for the Democrats of being opposed by a nutcase Republican party that acts like we're in Idaho is that they don't have to try as hard, you know? If Gregoire had run again, I'm not sure I would have voted for her - unless she was running against Dino Rossi. (See?)

I expect the same from Jay Inslee. Which is to say, I don't expect anything good at all. (And, of course, I voted for him.) Now that the election is over, I do expect him to forget the progressive activists who got him elected and pick up the Seattle Times to get some idea of which way the wind is blowing. That's how cynical I am about the state Democratic party.

Maybe I'm too cynical. They did step up for gay marriage, after all. Prove me wrong, Jay! I want to be wrong about this.

The Seattle Times has become such a worthless piece of shit on the editorial side and such a lightweight piece of crap on the news side that I swear the only reason I continue to subscribe is to set the example for my children that it's good to read a newspaper, but now I'm seriously beginning to reconsider.

My sis is waiting for prop 30 to pass in CA so she can raise her kid, and the Times wants more tax cuts for them?

Nah, Governor Inslee, just veto all tax exemptions that don't have a 2/3 majority vote of both the Legislature AND the Citizens.

Make the Times scream.

And then fund Education.

Dom, what are you doing posting about Seattle Times batshittery so late on a Friday night? That's Goldy's schtick.
