@2, I just reread the post twice, and the quoted text, just to be sure. The word "Republican" is not mentioned once. Nobody is equating all Republicans with anything here, except your imagination.

@6 Yes, not ALL Republicans are like these people, but all these people are Republicans. So, their point stands. Pro-Lifers did the same thing outside the PP on 45th and 9th (which does not provide abortions) for years.

@2 I think ultra right wing social conservatives have more influence in the Republican party than anarcho-socialist asshats have in the Democratic party. Obama didn't have kiss David Grabers' ass to get the nomination.

Please, it is true that not every single republican wants abortions outlawed and birth control unable to get, but they have decided to be under the tent of a party that has these things written into their party platform. So they advance those causes by voting for a party that supports them.

Someone should arrange for some Anonymous IRL rickrolling for next year's "opening ceremony". In my opinion this was too subtle. There needs to be a parade and perhaps a donation drive set-up by whoever is the closest Occupy group.

Protesting preventative healthcare—what could possibly offend them next? I'm sure they've found somewhere in their bible that says yeast infections only come from premarital sex, not from popping antibiotics, drinking sodas or eating sugary foods.
But the clinic found a great solution to dealing with insane people—a kind of kill them with kindness, reward good behavior and ignore bad behavior approach—that we'd all be smart to adopt.

a. If you brought in a *really* big heating element and a tremendous amount of lamb, you could apply both to the Space Needle and make the biggest Gyros sandwiches. You'd have to get it to rotate and have vast amounts of Pita bread and tzatziki, but I know you can make it work.
