The 100% Obama precincts in Philly probably involved shenanigans. (One invariant of voter behavior is that a small percentage of them vote wrong by accident, and one invariant of human behavior is that contrarians live even in the most homogenous populations.)

There are some confirmed cases of Republican vote-fiddling or attempted vote-fiddling - not surprising when you think about the Arizona Romney fan who drove over her husband just for not voting.

But these are penny-ante capers. No evidence of large-scale activity.

What? Was the barackofrauda.com domain taken already? 'Cause that's the one that actually rhymes with his name.

The way the machines are hacked (in cases where they are, and I have no way of knowing if that was the case here), it leaves no trace of the tampering. That is by design. So of course there is no evidence, that's the point.

@ 2 - There is something going on, but it's not suspicious in any way; it's gerrymandering, and it's done quite publicly.

If you carve out a district so that the minorities are all lumped together, yeah, there's a solid chance they'll come out 100% Democratic.

Anonymous' claims do seem rather far-fetched, given that the GOP's ORCA system, apparently designed as a Get Out The Vote aid, appears to have been notoriously balky and almost completely incapable of carrying out its primary function. So, the idea that this same application could have been sophisticated enough to somehow tap into Ohio Elections Office transmissions and revise e-vote counts on-the-fly without anyone noticing seems beyond credulity.

While it makes for a rather amusing "anti-conspiracy conspiracy theory", I think it's safe to say that Rove's election night tirade was predicated more on his (and the entire GOP's) hubristic over-confidence in their own enormously flawed polling data, and not to any reaction to some sort of vote-stealing scheme gone awry.

Anything that gets us to dump electronic voting machines is fine with me. Government does not do technology well (a combination of both frequent budget cuts and the inability to hire quality IT folks) and elections should not be outsourced to third parties.

What government does exceedingly well is both process and archive paper. Thus, we need to establish a national standard for paper ballots.

While I do think this is all mostly bullshit, I loved the tweet from Anon News that said something to the effect, "If this news was false, wouldn't Karl Rove be ranting on Fox News?" That is a pretty valid point.

@5 -- No, if you create an all black precinct, the chances of an 100% D vote are vanishingly low, for the reasons I stated above, unless the number of voters in said precincts are extremely low (which the precincts in question are not).

@1 Because they haven't changed their stance on anything in 15 years. That's the whole point of today's conservative movement - nothing new.

Everyone knows that Science and Math stole the election from the righteous forces of Mysticism, Faith and Belief in Slavery.

Darn you Science!

Obama is now a president for the ages. No amount of ranting will change the fact that he will be a revered part of American history for all time. Suck on that birthers and ranters and conspiracy nuts.

@8 Do we know that he isn't ding that? I only get my Fox News second hand.

@10 If you were going to vote fiddle, why make it as obvious as 100%? Specially when 4% difference wouldn't sway the overall winner. Even third grade answer sheet grabbers know to miss a question or two.

@16, you should read up on how LBJ stole his 1948 Senate election, with not just 100% of the vote in certain precincts but in one particularly hot one, the famous "Box 13", with the last 200 votes in alphabetical order (because they were copied from the registered-voter roll, all the names that didn't actually vote in the election until a few days afterwards, when the clerk voted for them after they knew how many they needed). This box later mysteriously disappeared.

But an overriding principle of GOP politics is that all votes by black people are fraudulent -- there are no black people, or if there are, they're all disqualified felons. Every Republican believes this in his heart of hearts.

Use google translate to read this. This is the action committee that got the voting machines banned in Holland. This is not a conspiracy theory, in europe, people vote with the pencil for a real reason. It's not only possible to manipulate elections if you use machines, it's both easy and untraceable.
Federal Constitutional Court of Germany banned the use of voting machines in Germany in 2008.
I honestly prefer Obama as US president, that doesn't mean he's free from scrutiny. The fact that USA once again thinks western Europeans are crazy/paranoid and MURICA has the bestest democracy of all is just another example of blatant US arrogance/patriotism.

@16 -- If I were going to fiddle an election, I suppose I would take pains not to make it obvious ... but I am not typical of the sort of people who try to fiddle elections. Precinct-level fiddlers have more partisan passion than plain sense, and they would tend to occur in extreme partisan precincts where pollworker collusion is easier.

We can rough-calculate how many extreme pro-Obama precincts it would take to produce the Chicago result (even if these precincts contained no Republicans, no local contrarians, no protest voters and no mentally challenged voters**) ... and such 100%-Obama precincts would add up to nearly twice the number of registered voters in Chicago.

** And if you think either God or Gerrymander can construct an all-black precinct with no contrarians or protest voters, you don't know black folk.
