Well, this won't do. How are conservatives going to shame those sluts if they can't scream at them while they're going in to get an abortion?

I guess they'll have to get more aggressive on shaming sluts for receiving birth control too. No price is too high for the opportunity to shame a slut if she dares to want sexual freedom.

Oh, and jesus loves you, you slut.

@1 got it.

If you want abortion rates to go down, provide easy access to free/cheap birth control (and education) to your citizens.
It sounds simple enough.

But that does not stigmatize sex or women who have sex.
Which is the real problem that the Republicans have.
They want an easy way to be a "hero" in their religion.
And the easiest, safest way to be a "hero" is to make "the enemy" out of someone vulnerable and weaker than you.

I walked past Planned Parenthood a week&1/2 ago on my way elsewhere, and there was a single, older man standing in front of the doors with his arms raised in some sort of "blessing" array. As I passed him, he said something like "Jesus loves you" or "Jesus be with you" or something. I didn't have my wits about me at that moment, but if that happens again I'm going to chew him out for being a selfish patriarchal dimwit who is furthering hatred of women and nature (in diplomatic language, of course).

Reminds me of seeing two members of the Westboro Baptist Smurch on the Russell Brand show (look it up on YouTube), where they actually argued that their "preaching" and telling people they are sluts and fags is actually because they love other people. And people who express love for each other without calling each other out on their "sins" actually hate each other. Black is white, etc.

After the Bush era, abstinence-only sex education started to vanish.

Teaching people about how to properly use birth control reduces the number of abortions.

Huh. Who woulda thunk it?

Since 2001, the "Take Charge" program has provided FREE birth control to women in WA state with incomes less than 250% of the FPL. There is no reason to get "accidentally" pregnant!

Does the post mean the total number of abortions fell, or the "abortion rate" -- whatever that is...some measure of abortions per women, or per pregnancy, you tell us...

Over all it sounds like the data is dodgey...

Nearly all states report abortion numbers to the federal government, but it's voluntary. A few states - including California, which has the largest population and largest number of abortion providers - don't send in data.

While experts estimate there are more than 1 million abortions nationwide each year, the CDC counted about 785,000 in 2009 because of incomplete reporting
