I see he was afraid to actually let you speak because you might have made a valid point.

Now that we have a socialist atheist Kenyan Muslim president, intent on imposing sharia law and gay marriage, everyday can be the war on Christmas

The worst part is the growing commercialization of The War On Christmas.

That "Washington-based attorney" freaked me out. I wonder how long she was saving that senseless in Seattle line.

Religion is losing money. That's what they fear. And Goldy, you were so nice it almost hurt to watch.

O'Riley wants to censor opinions that offend him. Shocked. Also, you look prettier in a dress, Goldy.

Manifest destiny? (Bremner) (And, seriously, what the hell did that have to do with anything? Was it just a random neuron misfire? A Tourette's-like verbal tic?) A nativity scene is a philosophical display? (O'Reilly) Our Constitution was based on Jesus' teachings? (O'Reilly) Naked bicyclists and sea turtle protests? (Bremner)

But yeah, Gregoire is a coward. The State Constitution is pretty clear:

SECTION 11 RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. ... No public ... property shall be appropriated for or applied to any religious worship, exercise or instruction, or the support of any religious establishment ....

To my mind, this clearly means "no religious displays on public property." At this point, "Christmas" trees and "Easter" egg rolls, like Halloween celebrations, have become so secularized in American culture that they would arguably not violate the ban. But the nativity scene and the atheist manifesto clearly do.

It's not the "War on Christmas"; it's the constitutional ban on government-sponsored religion.

Private Thruster reporting for duty,

When you are seriously outnumbered (godless vs god-clinging) it is considerd target rich envirnment. Some of my believing friends complain about "evangelical atheism" but do not realize I am not out to (de)convert anyone, but rather establish the reason for my views to anyone who asks. It is a push back against xian bullying. They say wanting "IN GOD WE TRUST" off the money is a little thing, but can you really think of anything more ludicrous than the government taking a position for all of us (by default) on a belief or non-belief in God? Neutral, despite what churchies say, is not pro non-belief. They'd rightly complain if the message was "IN SATAN WE TRUST". I trust in no Gog/Gods, so it is either a LIE, or I am not part of the WE.

In my neck of the woods, there is a flap about banning a creche in the park in Santa Monica. What is ignored, is that the response came from the fact that atheists had applied for a majority of the spots that you could get a permit for, and because of the extreme offense taken at godless holiday messages "polluting" the public space, the city council decided to remove them all rather than get stuck in the middle (which they are now anyway). Glod forbid we do not have enough religious xmas decorations. Many xians hate any secular xmas observances. Why do they hate Santa?

Jesus was a philosopher and that's why we celebrate christmas?

Yeah sure. I'm sure that's what all the churches say during christmas. Jesus was just a philosopher, nothing more.

I'd like BillO to try actually defending that view to his evangelical troglodyte audience: Jesus was just a philosopher. He'd fold instantly. What a lying, opportunistic fuck.

As much as I hate O'Riley, he is right about Christmas it is also a social event. Atheists and socialists will never be happy until the human race is one sex, having the same job, thinking the same thoughts, and becoming clones of each other. Goldie you would'nt be the Goldstein of 1984, would you?

@15,
Atheists and socialists will never be happy until the human race is one sex, having the same job, thinking the same thoughts, and becoming clones of each other.
Whaaaaaat??

I (an atheist) am totally happy with christians being christians, but they (the christians) can't seem to be happy just being christians by themselves, no, they can't seem to be happy unless EVERYONE else is a christian just like them.

If there's anyone who wants everyone to be clones of each other, it's the extreme religious types. They want everyone to follow their religion, and the christians keep demanding as much every year, at christmastime, when they start bitching about the lack of "christ" in christmas.

Christians should go celebrate their own fucking christmas with christ and religion in their own fucking homes and leave the rest of us out of it.
