gender neutral PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Two out of four are clearly gender neutral. Hero could be male or female but honestly, male comes to mind first and I have to translate.

Seen as a hero by Americans, that is.

Personally, I still think "Awesome Person" is best, but we have to change with the times, I suppose.

By the way, if "hero" and "master and commander" are not seen as gender neutral, the fault lies with the reader, not the text.

@TVDinner: or MAYBE I've SAVED Slog. Did you consider THAT? (Also it's pretty cool to wake up in the morning and be told you've ruined Slog. Thanks! Squee!)
