Diplomacy would make for a great icebreaker game with people that don't know each other.

Diplomacy takes too long sometimes.

Elder Sign sounds fun.

By the way, Settlers of Catan is best played by its strip variant rules.

Basically, 1 victory point = 1 garment.

Good point @15. One of my colleagues just picked that up.

Since he's from S Korea, probably plays it Gangam style.

Too bad A Mighty Fortress takes 18 hours to play. It's a great way to get six people to stab each other in the backs repeatedly. I could have my buddy mail me the only copy I've ever seen.

For those us who have time for this type of foolishness during Happy Hour, there's always the Rendezvous.

There's plenty of room to have two events going on at once. They're not going to kick out all of the dudes from the entire lounge :p

Hi, Eric from the Raygun Lounge here. We regularly double and triple book events because it creates a great community atmosphere (as you can see from our calendar http://www.gammaraygamestore.com/events/… we overlap events practically every night of the week). We thought that Ladies Night and Slog Night would be a great mix. We've received some feedback from both groups suggesting we may have been wrong about that so we're looking into it. I can assure you, however, that whatever happens, we love Ladies, we love the Slog, and we love games, and we guarantee that both groups will get their respective regular Friday nights whether they choose to spend them together or not.

Eeeeee! You waited 'til I got back from Mexico to host the Nerdy Slog Happy!!
(Or you waited 'til they started serving booze, but I'm gonna be self-centered here.)

Can't wait to play games with y'all!

@12 Nope, I totally giggled thinking of the few times I've played Diplomacy. It would definintely be an interesting ice-breaker.

Paul Constant 29
Hi downbythefreeway @9: We checked with Lounge staff to make sure that there were no conflicts on the 7th; we were flexible about dates. I didn't hear about your event until after I published this post, and I'm sorry if you're upset. As I understand it, the Lounge would still have been open to the public—men and women—during your event, even if the Slog event didn't happen. I promise we won't interfere with your event; I just want everyone to have a good time. We'll all be playing games, and there will be tables set aside for both groups.

But, careful, @9 - If you try to attend two events simultaneously in the same place, you will tear a hole in the fabric of space-time.

Hi, Ashley from Queer Geek here, I planned the ladies meetup. I'm sure we can all fit in the lounge next Friday. Plus I'd love to kick Paul Constant's ass in Small World ;)

Also let's not lose sight of the fact that the two groups are not mutually exclusive.

Thanks for being so generous with our scheduling quirks everyone. We're very confident that it's all going to work out great. But if, worst case scenario, both groups are so popular that it just gets too crowded, we'll alternate future Fridays to make sure that there's friendly, inclusive room for everyone going forward.
