Sounds like it's okay if young girls smoke pot instead of read vampire novels.

the Bible also never mentions cars...doesn't that mean they're possibly of the devil as well?

JESUS LOVES CARS

That guy is just the absolute platonic ideal of a douchebag.

I sincerely hope I live to see the day when dogmatic, misogynistic belief systems like the one espoused by Pastor Driscoll and Mars Hill Church Inc. are consigned to the dustbin of history...

I Heart Flan! 5
But the bible does mention cannabis Mark:

Genesis 1:29

And God said "behold, I give you every herb bearing seed on the face of the earth"

Or some such nonsense..

Now if today's weed was like the Myrrijuana stuff back in 60 A.D., then Mark would be fine with it.

Strangely, the article he cites mentions neither porn nor video games.

OK Paul, so how do YOU explain the trend of hapless man-children then?

Sounds like Driscoll just clued us in on a powerful new ally in the war on cars. Thanks, man! Have fun on the bus!

Special tool is right. He's the most special tool in the whole world. He is also a bloviating assface.

I am more concerned about the hapless man-children that listen to this idiot than I am about the high guys on the bus downloading porn.

Max Solomon 12
"And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.”

Suck it Driscoll.

Hernandez 13
@3 Actually, my takeaway was:

SATAN LEADS THE WAR ON CARS

Expect to see that line in a Mars Hill sermon before too long.

@11--Too true. If it weren't for hapless man-children, Driscoll wouldn't have a congregation.

So, he recognizes his limitations to be able to speak to medical issues. When will he recognize that on almost every other topic he also unqualified?

Pretty sure the Bible has absolutely nothing to say on the subject and he's just making it up.

Driscoll needs to go to the Moon.

This quote is so much fun! "A recent article even noted that young men are now less likely than ever to own a car, as taking public transportation allows them to use their smartphone more hours every day playing video games and downloading porn."

I ride the bus a lot, and I will admit to playing games (Yay Dragon Story ^_^) and reading smut (Yay SLOG). I am a bad Christian after all.

The 'eating the cereal box instead of the cereal it contains' analogy kinda rules. Someone should show up at one of his sermons, make a pro-smoking counter-argument, then eat a cereal box.

"Well, it's not illegal, and the Bible doesn't say anything about it, and I don't really know any of the science about its health effects... but I still don't like it!"

Well, that certainly is an opinion.

I betcha my grandmother's Bible that Driscoll has congregants who are pot smokers. That's part of the reason he has to tread so carefully. This is in addition to his congregants downloading, and enjoying the hell out of, smut. That one's a given. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Driscoll himself is a pot-smoking hairy-palm kinkster.

Isn't cannabis a New World plant?

Cannabis is mentioned several times in the old testament:

"Kaneh besm" or cannabis, shows up in Exodus 30:23, Song of Songs 4:14., Isaiah 43:24, Jeremiah 6:20, Ezekiel 27:19.

God clearly loves all his creations.

Speaking of La Driscoll, I was beyond appalled to discover that Mars Hill is taking over the old First United Methodist Church downtown.

I think the argument that marijuana is sinful because it feels too good ("causes euphoria") is kind of giving the whole Christian game away.

I admit I don't know the scripture by heart, but pharmakeia (drug abuse) in the Bible is sin. Just because the Governmant allows it doesn't make it not sinful. Abortion and homsexuality is sinful, but legal in the United States. It isn't about judging people. Judging and affirmation are not the same thing. God has already said it is wrong. Very few who use marijuana actually use it for legit medical reasons. The reason people smoke weed is because of what it does; gets people high. According to the scripture this is sorcery. I can give mercy to those who use it for real medical reasons even though there are alternatives, but for recreational use, it is sin. www.minjeremiah.com
