We're the best thing that happened to marriage registrars since Liz Taylor!

One of the biggest reasons I think this is so exciting and makes me so happy is that King County officials and administrators are just so goddamn excited about it. It's so heartwarming. I just wanna hug the person who does the King County twitter feed.

In business news, the Seattle Times has an article about the all out economic impacts on florists, bakers, limos, tailors, and so on due to the uptick in weddings.

Now if only the gov could realize that 2/3 of America says the feds should not get involved in states that legalize MJ or gay marriage and Man Up.

The folks down at King County were just amazing - the employees, the volunteers and the well-wishers. I was truly impressed and very touched when we got our marriage license yesterday morning. They went over and above, and made it a special and very memorable experience for all those hundreds of couples.

What?!? Holy shit.
Who knew we had SO MANY gay couples just waiting to get married?! I'll be damned...

(that's a joke people, a joke.) (It's about damn time the state stopped defining love.) (Congratufuckinglations to all the newlyweds! Whoohoo!)

543 licenses * $65 = $35,295.

Gay marriage just paid 6 months of some county's worker's salary.

Is there an increase of heterosexual licenses also?

Wait until we get the resulting wedding/reception/party revenue from sales taxes ...

@14 I would hope so, although many may have wanted to wait to give gay marriage applicants a chance, first.

Hoping on Sunday we'll start seeing str8 applicants who waited to get married until gays could too.

How long are King County marriage licenses valid? Will all these folks have to get married within a certain window of time?

@14 - I sorta doubt it. We went down there to join the cheering section at midnight, with the _vague_ notion of joining the line to get ours. But we would have been the only het couple in line, so it just wasn't our line to join. We just stood at the exit and clapped like maniacs instead. It was great.

Since licenses through the saturday are only at the administration building, and het couples have had ample opportunity before (and after) to get licenses, I sorta expect that most KC licenses in the next couple of days will be to same sex couples.

@19 - Yes, WA marriage licences are only valid for 60 days

@19, it's a Washington state marriage license, which is applied for and issued at the county level. Per state law, a marriage license is valid for 60 days.

It's gotta be really tough opposing this much blatant happiness and love. It really shows the anti-gay marriage loons for the collection of sad, miserable, disturbed, dumb fucks they are. Christ, they're screwed.

not tough at all.

wow.

shiny happy people.

what is there not to love?

.

have you ever seen someone high on ecstasy?

who could be against that much joy?

the euphoria, the sense of intimacy with others, even diminished anxiety.

almost as big a high as homosexual "marriage".......

.

just because people like it doesn't make it good.

for society. for them.

oh bah....if it feels good just Do It! right?

Cha-Ching!!!

now.

how many government employee man-hours have been expended granting the licenses, and will be expended processing the "marriages", how much will the use of physical facilities cost; add it up and get back to us with how much of a net loss to the taxpayers those licenses will cost.

oh man, we can't wait!

tell us now!!

Willie,
if you snuck out tonight
and burned down a couple of square blocks
that would generate some boffo economic activity as well......
fireman and cop overtime,
inspectors,
adjusters,
think of the construction!
appliances, furnishings, landscaping.

damn.......

think about it.

500?

holy shit.

there are 60,000 homosexuals in Seattle.

if half are in couples that would be 15,000 potential marriages.

where are the other 14,500?

maybe homosexuals aren't the marrying types after all, Danny.......
