Probably is another Chase branch.

Darn. Where do we go to drink to Deborah Persons' leaving SIFF?

Huh? They have a full calendar on their website, on weekends at least, for the month.

Maybe Chase canceled their line of credit. I know a couple of businesses that happened to...

I can create a calendar until the end of time, it doesn't mean any of it's going to happen.

@4 - might have just found out they lost their lease. These things happen.

I miss the old Sunday brunch @ Cafe Venus, before it was sold. The new management screwed over a friend who worked there, so I haven't been back since the change.

@5 Interesting. Chase canceled my line of credit a few months ago. Not because of late payments or anything, they just felt like it. They decided that because my house had gone down in value (um, like everyone's?) I should go from a $100,000 limit to zero.

I will miss the Mars Bar! Support your remaining small venues, readers...local bands have to start somewhere!

i liked that space. friendly bar staff, good food, treated bands well. i'm not really surprised to see it close though, it was a tough location for that kind of venue.

It's less likely a Chase and more likely something having to do with Amazon taking over that area and making rents that much more expensive. I can't help but wonder if El Corazon can weather the storm.

if it is another Chase branch we need to rise up & put the fuckers out of business.

That means putting Jamie Dimon & hi cohorts in crime in prison!

Who says it's going to be Chase? A couple of businesses closed on 35th Ave NE and they put in a Key Bank last year. And banks really do fuck up a neighborhood. Instead of Desert Sun Tanning and some ladies boutique called "Fresh" we have a Key Bank with a guard standing in front of it all day long. It really makes an area feel sleazy.

Please let El Cozazon be next! Those guys are assholes! I can't even count the number of incidences I can think of with that place and people I know! I still want my money back from the concert they wouldn't let me back into because I went outside to smoke!

What a shame. That place was an old favorite.

Hadn't been back there but once since Katie and Mark sold the place, though. The Mercer construction just made it too much of a PITA.
