I am such a big fan of the magic flight launch box! Definitely a competitor. Fewer bells and whistles and superb functionality. Check it out!

Fine, it's legal. Now shut the fuck up about it. God you people are boring.

I don't get it... What do pot smokers need this for? What's wrong with a plain old pipe or bong or joint? Am I missing something?

It's fucking awesome. I tried one NYE at a party. None of that weird volcano bag shit. Choice.

@3 Nothing wrong with it. The vaporization feels easy on the lungs though. Very nice. Like a nice scotch.

Try arizer Solo... Much cheaper, better inside equipment, more controls over temperature. Much better.... From what my friends tell me...

I'm not 100% convinced vaporizers actually get you high.

as someone who must vocally project as part of my job, i can tell you, smoking weed will fuck up your voice and throat. vaporizing, for me, does not fuck up my voice and throat. plus, you are removing impurities and getting straight up thc through vaporizing. and it is a million more times economical vs. smoking, you get more bang for the buck, weed goes a lot longer with a vaporizer. the difference is night and day. i have a volcano but the bags are a pain in the ass. i might try out this pax and will report back.

plus, with smoking weed, like while camping, i will get a nice buzzy high. with volcano vaporizing, the cosmos will come down from outer space and try to make my entire being and soul one with the universe. and i used at least half to quarter as much weed vs. smoking. so u decide....

Bobo, go for the arizer solo, it's more economical as well. They are a Canadian company that focuses more on the consumer and product than looks. It is a electronic chargeable too except it has a ceramic heating element instead of metal.

Of course, if Apple actually made it, it would only work with Apple brand marijuana, and every other toke you would have to listen to an advertisement, before analyzing your DNA to report all medical information to Apple's ad department to be used or sold to other companies.

If Apple did make vaporizers, it would cost 500$ and the battery would not be removable, it would actually be super glued into the aluminum casing to ensure you couldn't replace should you actually be able to open the casing to it. They would also patent the vaporizer and sue all other vendors of vaporizers into bankruptcy.

Interesting. How long does the battery last on a charge?
@10 :A hit or two off my omicron (pocket hash oil vaporizer) would convince a person pretty fast.

@7 - Sorry for bad pictures, check out their website for details on how it works. You click the mouthpiece to turn it on, the LED thing pulses and then turns green when it's up to temperature, and you suck on it. That's it. Click the mouthpiece back in again to turn it off. It recharges on a little stand.

@14, 15 - I figured this would happen if I mentioned Apple. But why not...

@14 - I think you have Apple confused with some other company (Google? Facebook?). Say what you will about Apple, but they don't traffic in user data, or push ads - they're a hardware company. And all music purchased via iTunes is DRM-free, a concession Apple forced the record labels to make once they had the market power to do it. You want to blame someone for proprietary content? Blame the studios and the record labels.

@15 - The battery on this thing is not removable either. Nor is the battery in almost every advanced phone or thin and light laptop by any manufacturer anymore. It's silly to think that Apple made batteries non-removable for any reason other than it made their designs work, allowing for thinner and more solidly built devices. Consumers have shown they don't mind this tradeoff, and every other manufacturer has followed suit. And yes, Apple is also responsible for the state of our patent system.

@16 - They say the battery will last for 2 hours of "continuous use", which sounds like a whole lot of continuous use to me. It's 2600 mAh and charges in about an hour. It has 3 temperature settings, so I assume they're basing this on the lowest setting and that a higher temp setting would use the battery faster. Anecdotally, it seems like you'd manage it like a phone, you put it on the stand to charge overnight, and for most people I would think the charge would easily get them through the day.

If Apple Made Vaporizers...
...they'd only work with iWeed purchased from the Apple Store.

This + hash oils are completely the direction the market will take.

1. America loves its accessories.
2. Producers can brand and guarantee the hash oil so that it's consistent from purchase to purchase.
3. Dosage is much easier to regulate.
4. Purchasers can carry a small bottle of concentrated oil with them. They don't have to fuss with trimmings, odors, or the the plain volume of unprocessed weed.
5. Seller shelf space, shipping, stock, etc...
6. Flame, ash, smoke, resin all suck.

I can't wait to purchase some high-end Christmas Blend Starbucks hash oil for special occasions!

I bought one of these about 2 months ago, to replace a magic flight launch box. I really like the pax. I don't know that I'd claim 2 hours, but it's good for about two sessions. There is an automatic shutoff that has been very helpful. ("Oh, hey, look over there!")

You need to clean it regularly for best use. The mouthpiece, which pops up from of the top, can get a bit stuck. The best solution I've found is to put a little isopropyl alcohol on the pipe end of the mouthpiece and pop the mouthpiece up and down from the housing.

There's an incredibly long thread about it at the fuckcombustion forums for those who are interested.

@3:

The theory behind vaporizers is that, raw cannabis contains a large amount of plant material in addition to THC, which is the only substance in the plant that has any significant psychoactive effect. The most common form of consumption - burning the plant and inhaling the smoke - sends not only the yummy THC down into your lungs, but all the noxious combusted plant material as well, which is most definitely not good for you.

Vaporizers solve this problem due to the fact that THC combusts at a much lower temperature than the accompanying plant material: by controlling the temperature, one can effectively burn the THC, but leave the remaining material mostly untouched, which means much, much less of it going up in smoke and down your lungs.

So when you exhale, what comes out? Smoke? If not, it would be great for apartments.

@23 - Vapor comes out. It still smells a little, but more like unburned pot (or whatever you're vaporizing) than like smoke, and it doesn't hang around as much.

Don't be impressed with the sleek design. I bought this for myself for Xmas and it's broken, and the company won't help.

The heating element is the big deal. It has a motion detector that is pretty cool, especially considering you're probably smoking pot. Set it down and it shifts into a sleep mode for a couple minutes, then totally turns itself off. It's rechargeable, too, which is pretty cool.

It seems, though, that the company spent their time on the artificial intelligence but forgot to spend any time on the actual smoking experience. First off, it's awful hard to get air through this thing. Any desktop vaporizer is so very easy to draw from. I'm huge and have non-smoker lungs, and I have to go to where I'm gasping for air because this feels like you're sucking through a clogged straw.

Worst, the on/off switch is actually built into the mouthpiece, which is immediately connected to the heat source. It's insult to injury. You have to suck like a maniac to get anything out of it, and the mouthpiece heats up as it's turned on. Also, there's a chronic (no pun) problem with this design where the mouthpiece 'on' switch fails, and their fix is to ship you some kind of lubricant that you need to periodically use.

I really regret my purchase. I have a $75 desktop vaporizer that I bought off eBay and it runs circles around this overpriced broken clogged straw. Their customer service is weak, too. They have posted hours for their chat reps but it's totally hit or miss.

Cooljames, I DON'T have one of these...but it sounds like you're overpacking the chamber. Similar "clogged straw" sensations probably can be had from other vaporizers where the user has to manually draw rather than something like a Volcano where the vapor is collected...I imagine.

ohmygod i just bought one. it's like they wiggled into my brain and extracted every minor annoyance i may have ever had regarding smoking weed, and sold the solution to me in a $250 device that's almost too smart for its own good. seriously, save your pennies and get it.

Definitely a lot better than I would have thought. There's a lot of gimmicky vaporizers that are out (like the Puffit) but this one is actually quality. It's pretty expensive but it gets the job done and I feel a lot better not inhaling so much smoke all the time. I'm definitely glad I read reviews like this one and more importantly, the one over at http://vapeforest.com/reviews/pax-vapori… because they pushed me to snag one and now I'm glad I did. Definitely no Volcano vaporizer, but for a portable, it's sweet.
