This is what Grady Clay would call a "sink", and it's one of the classic American landscapes. It's not a wasteland at all, but a peculiar form of organization, even social organization. The wonderful thing about this picture is that he thought to take it; normally these places don't register because they are hidden, even hidden in plain sight.

A great picture. I think large format photography with digital post-production is the best of both worlds.
