It sucks to be predeceased by so many loved ones. I hope she had friends and family in her final days.

The last of the sisters to go.

Her sister Maxene was the one I adored. Gay as the day is long. Her partner of many decades was much younger. Long before civil unions or marriage equality, as Maxene grew older she and Lynda wanted to make sure Lynda would never be denied the right to help with her medical care, visit her in the hospital, or inherit. So Maxene and Lynda did what they had to do. Maxene legally adopted Lynda as a daughter.

Maxine died of cancer in 1967. Long time ago. I wonder why they became such shits to each other after they crested in the mid-40s. Financial and money squabbles. Maybe they got screwed early in their careers and were super-guarded about anything money. The remaining two were pretty much estranged except for when they were reunited for the Broadway show Over Here! which closed in 9 months over money squabbles (the NYT called the squabbles "bitter").

Sad that they didn't remain friends, but they sure made a lot of people feel good during some pretty blue times. RIP, Patty.

Man, the all the artificial scratches and fake visual noise in that video was annoying.

My father is just a couple of years younger, and his contemporaries have been dropping like flies the last few years. Hardly any left at the WWII events -- where the Sisters' music is always on the soundtrack. I had no idea any of three were left. RIP Patty.

@5, no, LaVerne is the sister who died in 1967. Maxene lived to 1995, having been Dean of Women and Vice-President of Planning and Development at Tahoe Paradise College.

I didn't know all that juicy history, Gus, thanks for sharing! I'm a sucker for tight harmonies so I'm glad they shared what they did with the world, it was fun while it lasted!

@10, you're welcome! Gay history can be hard to find - I'm glad you like it.

@9: Yes, of course. LaVerne. I really shouldn't post before coffee. Thanks for the clarification and for the info, GG. I didn't know that they were Greek (born Andreus - their mother was Norwegian) until I read the obit this morning in the NYT.
