Israel always knows how to make things worse. This is exactly what Syrian dictator al-Assad wanted. Goddammit.

Cue Slog headline: These tragedies would never happen if more 5-year-olds carried guns.

What a great scam that pastor had going for him!

Oh come (in) all ye faithful!

Take, eat, this is my body

That's a great way to handle hecklers! If one is a stand-up comedian. I guarantee that woman just shortened her journalistic career.

@2: Just because things might get worse doesn't negate a country's right to defend itself.

With the NSA eavesdropping programs and the compliance of ATT, Verizon, and pretty much every other communications company, I'm sure the US government has been hacking into the NY Times for years. But it's worse when a foreign government does it, I guess.

Regarding the tree poachers:

Cutting down a large tree, and then cutting out a core of the fattest part of the trunk sounds like a) you'd need to be skilled with a chainsaw, b) you'd need to be well-coordinated and careful, and c) you'd need to be able to drive and own a vehicle that could carry your haul.

None of that spells "druggie" to me. A druggie would sell the chainsaw and truck long before they came up with this scheme. Besides, unless they're finding a few fingers or toes laying around, there are no signs that anyone intoxicated was involved in this.

I want Phoebe to write an excuse for the Brazilian pastor--maybe something about the importance of freedom of religion as a universal value, since it's outside the US.

Either that or something about the women as temptresses.

Dan Marino's wife was far too trusting; Miami was too remote to have an effective affair. But don't worry, he dealt with his NYC booty call soon enough.

@9: Actually, religious freedom is a universal value; rape is not.

How is there an alleged Israeli attack? How can it not be confirmed whether or not Israel attacked Syria?

The supposedly gay dog got adopted. And the shelter is overwhelmed with calls.

Phoenix Coyotes sale is off. Greg Jamison doesn't have the money. Could be Seattle or Hamilton or Quebec.

Phoebe: do you get stupider every day? Ask a Saudi citizen just how much the Kingdom values 'Religious Freedom'. And report back here, thanks.

@17 Surely you didn't think "universal" meant everyone, everywhere??? Of course we're only talking about squishy, polite, upper-middle-class NALT Xtians.

@17: You are so incredibly dense. A universal value is still a value fought for by freedom fighters everywhere, even in oppressive nations.
