C'mon, Matt, Stalin was well known for demolishing his enemies homes' and building libraries on the rubble.

Stalin destroyed Trotsky's (Lenin's? the Tsar's?) boyhood home?

Total bullshit. Everyone at Newsmax knows that the Obama Library will be in Nairobi.

And Obama's Presidential Library will be passing out food stamps and Section 8 vouchers.

Supreme Ruler Of The Universe 6

Cruelty was enshrined in their working code. Cruelty was a virtue. Cruelty was necessary. Aspire to cruelty! Cruelty held the keys that would unlock the gates to the perfect State. If being a Chekist was akin to following a religious doctrine then cruelty was one of their central commandments.

Wouldn't Obama's Presidential Library just have a bus stop served constantly by free buses?

I look forward to seeing Raygun's legacy buried under the parking lot of Obama's legacy.

I voted for Obama so he could troll the shit out of Regan. I'm so fucking pissed he's gone back on his promise to be a douchebag, I'm totally resending my vote. Hurumph.

I agree the story is ridiculous. It's just an apartment that he lived in briefly. It's silly for conservatives to be upset about that. Obama's childhood residence, an apartment in Honolulu where he spent a considerable amount of time should be preserved. Almost every American President deserves a library at least those that have served a full term (4 years). Not sure about William Henry Harrison who served only 90 days (?) and died in office or John Tyler who basically was a traitor AFTER his Presidency, he was a Confederate. My understanding is Obama's library site has yet to be selected.

Reagan's home is already preserved or at least acknowledged in the National Historic Places Registry. I've actually seen it. It's in Dixon, Illinois. I believe Reagan was born in nearby Tampico, IL.

All of you are wrong. Obama is going to demolate the existing Reagan Library and build his library on the site with a Kenyan Cultural Center and the new party headquarters for the Socialist Party of the US. *DUH!!*

The headline refers to Stalin's habit of not only killing his opponents, but erasing them from history by killing/intimidating people close to them, removing them from images and speeches, destroying/banning their works, and sometimes destroying their homes and buidling something new over the rubble.

Wow, I have something in common with Ronald Reagan: I, too, lived in Illinois for less than a year as a young child! I must say, since I have no memory of it, it would be hilarious to me if I ever got famous enough for people to want to preserve the place my family lived in for that brief time as my "childhood home."

Brilliant choice of headline by Newsmax. Who DIDN'T immediately flash on an image of a two-story clapboard house surrounded by towering oak trees when reading the line "Reagan's Childhood Home?"

The more specific "Reagan's Roach-Ridden Old Apartment Building" doesn't evoke quite the nostalgia.

Surprisingly, pasting "832 E. 57th St" into Google Maps doesn't trigger an autocomplete for Chicago. Not much traction for this story?

Typical conservative echo chamber strategy.

Keep repeating a lie until the conservative base believes it's always been a fact.

Wow, how easy it must be to write for NewsMax!

Kinda like working back in the day for the supermarket tabloids -- take a small nugget of fact and write a fantasy around it.

Or a Mad Libs in which every other word inserted is "Obama."

These Tea-Party types are really becoming wearisome. Can't we just set up a big reservation in say, Wyoming or the Dakotas and lure them in with a promise of "free guns, unfettered liberty, no brown people!", then lock the gates once they're all inside?
