Did you know that there is a Drive-Thru daiquiri stand on Elysian Fields Blvd in New Orleans?

The State of Louisiana Office of Public Health lists deaths from cirrhosis as "natural causes" on death certificates.

I love NOLA.

@1 The public health tidbit is awesome, but seems too good to be true. Citation? I'm hunting myself to no avail…

People who drink just to get blotto in tourist areas are a blight, whether they're in New Orleans, Seattle or Cabo San Lucas. Drink like a grownup. Pace yourself. Drink around the clock if you want, but don't be that guy, the one sitting on the sidewalk with his head bowed between his legs on Bourbon Street. That's not cool, it's just stupid.

I prefer the person on my Facebook who commented:

"...and now, a tribute to New Orleans' suffering during hurricane Katrina."

Anyone who watched movies during the 1990s should be sick and tired of New Orleans by now. Wasn't Nick Cage alone in at least 80 flicks set there?

Bourbon Street is appalling. Thankfully, the rest of the Quarter isn't like that.

I adore New Orleans. I've done plenty of drinking there, but so far, no blackouts.

It's the food and music for me. Since the 70's. Dr. JOHN, Al Hurt, Pete Fountain, Aaron and the Neville Brothers, BTO, Taj Mahal...... The list us endless and the food is beyond the words this space can hold. From street tamales to five star and ALL stops between. Mufelletta and poboys, beginet and chickory French roast, pralines... Think I'll go to Jazz Fest..;-D

@8 if you love Nola music & food, you might want to think about French Quarter Festival. It is to Jazz Fest as Folklife is to Bumbershoot -- free & local. And it's the perfect time of year to get a crawfish boil from the food booth.

I liked "the last time the power went out in the Superdome nobody bothered to get it back on for a month. It's different when rich white people are inside rather than refugees."

There is much more to NOLA than the quarter. Although Evelyn's has the best gumbo in the city.

You mean nobody will beat that besides the 1 million other people who Tweeted some variant of that same hack joke?
