As government spying on citizens becomes more pervasive, I see wide brimmed hat coming back into fashion for both men and women. Maybe even unisex burqas.

Absolute silence of wireless comms. Staying under heavy trees? Sounds like the backwoods of my home-town. I wonder how many AQ are hiding out thereabouts.

Also, I'm glad they didn't mention using fiber optics and onion routing to disguise their communications or cash transactions instead of traceable credit. Internet surveillance and financial monitoring are useful tools. Not too much "computer know-how" with these goons, methinks.

I remember reading a story (it might have even been on Slog) about the last tree standing in northern Mali. It died when it was hit by a truck.
