THURSDAY 9/20

SEATTLE CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF ANDY C'S PUGILISTIC DRUM 'N' BASS

Wait, wasn't veteran UK producer/DJ Andy C just at the Showbox in August? Yep. But he's back and ready to pulverize your godforsaken bones with his merciless drum 'n' bass battering rams that, as I said a mere month ago, "roll and growl with thuggish finesse." (Man, I could turn a phrase back in the day.) With Pressha, Aaron Simpson, Armanni Reign, and Dirty Steve. Showbox at the Market, 8 pm, $20 adv/$25 DOS, all ages.

FRIDAY 9/21

STENCHMAN'S HARD-NOSED DUBSTEP

With a name like Stenchman, it's not shocking that this UK dubstep producer (aka Jack Carter) has a predilection for the genre's queasy, disturbing side (check out his track "What the Hell Are You?" for proof). But he also can flip the script and do something like "Free Will," which is part of the burgeoning "chillstep dubstep" movement (inevitable development!) and sounds like a Julee Cruise ballad with judicious use of bass wobble. If you're not feeling that, just wait for the self-explanatory, virulent "Gutfucker." With Dirty, Herban Cyantist, and C.R.I.M.E. Contour, 10 pm, $5 till 11 pm/$10 after, 21+.

SATURDAY 9/22

100% SILK SHOWCASE WITH STRATEGY, POLONAISE

A subsidiary of drone/psych-rock label Not Not Fun, 100% Silk focuses on what label boss Amanda Brown calls, "diamond-life dance & bliss-disco & basement luxury grooves," brought to you in 45-rpm 12-inch slabs of wax. Well, damn, I'm hooked. Portland's Strategy (aka Paul Dickow) is known for his slinky, dub-inflected house tracks that hook you with beguiling, cheese-free melodies and strutting beats that make you feel cloud-dancingly happy. Besides his Boxy Music EP on 100% Silk, Strategy has an excellent new album coming soon on the upstart Peak Oil label. Get hip. Polonaise (former Stranger music intern Scott Goodwin and Avalon Kalin) make homespun house music and Italo disco without computers, and you can really feel and hear the organic love they pour into their productions. They're brainy minimalists who also know how to construct hedonistic grooves, so they give you the best of both worlds, even though you did nothing to deserve it. With Leech and Secret Colors. Cairo, 8 pm, $5, all ages.
