JIMMY EDGAR'S SEXY-MOFO ELECTRO

Detroit's Jimmy Edgar was once a teenage phenom, recording for Warp, Merck, and Audio.nl, flaunting mad different styles (electro, IDM, minimal techno, disjointed, Prefuse 73–esque hiphop) with aplomb. Now releasing for renowned British imprint Hotflush and his own Ultramajic label, Edgar remains as sonically lecherous as ever. His recent output continues in the thong-snappin' electro vein of late, thrusting into your earholes boudoir-friendly beats, soul-diva vocal samples, and libido-inflaming bass lines. RHYTHM & BRUISE: CONTAINER'S BRUTAL, OBLONG TECHNO

In what's become a semi-monthly tradition, Sam Melancon has booked another ear-expanding bill for his MOTOR event, which has emerged as Seattle's premier showcase for vanguard electronic music. Headliner Container (aka Providence, Rhode Island's Ren Schofield) cracked a lot of domes in 2012 with his LP full-length on Spectrum Spools. The tracks here roll with an irrepressible, oblong rhythmic gait and come adorned with ill, gloopy textures that sound as if they'll give dancers a neural disease (uh, the good kind... yeah). This year's Adhesive EP (on Liberation Technologies) smacks even harder. YouTube his January Boiler Room set for more technoise brutality. Portland's Apartment Fox and GOODWIN—analog-synth masters who both played in the late, great Operative—twist conventions of house and techno until they attain very strange and appealing shapes. Seattle's Bankie Phones (.gif-ted visual artist Frankie Crescioni) is a chameleonic producer whose tracks electrifyingly splatter into seven vivid shades of fun. With DJ Slow. Lo-Fi, 9 pm, $10, 21+.

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN VOICES FROM THE LAKE'S MINIMAL-TECHNO DEPTHS

March 22, 2014, will go down in history as the day Seattle electronic-music fans had to decide between seeing the awesome Container (see above) and the devastating Italian duo Voices from the Lake. (You may be able to catch both, if you have speedy transport and much energy and luck.) VFTL (Donato Dozzy and DJ Neel) are masters of subtly morphing minimal techno, as evidenced by their self-titled 2012 album. On it, they weave nature sounds (insects, frogs, water, etc.) into an intimately expansive matrix of cushiony 4/4 beats and enigmatic, crepuscular atmospheres. This year's Velo di Maya EP features more emphasis on pumping rhythms, but the same sublime sound design and shimmering drone and tone palettes are in evidence. At their 2012 Re-bar show, VFTL took us on an incredible journey that kept the crowd simultaneously moving and hypnotized. Expect similar feats tonight. With the Sight Below and Eddie Lee.
