FRIDAY–SATURDAY 4/18–19 & 4/25-26

'Altered States'

Based on the writings of neuroscientist, psychonaut, and dolphin-communicator John C. Lilly, this 1980 film is rich with visuals, including a ayahuasca–ish ceremony and resulting hallucination. The frenetically edited sequence was seemingly designed with the boggling of addled minds as a primary goal. Grand Illusion Cinema, 4739 University Way NE, grandillusioncinema.org, $8.

SATURDAY 4/19

Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa

Yeah, this is a little #mainstream, but so what. The poster for this event looks like a cross between a yoga studio catalog and a promo flyer for a rave, and the concert's title is "Snoop's Wellness Retreat," which invites one to wonder: Is Snoop planning a second reincarnation as a dietician, personal trainer, or holistic life coach? WaMu Theater, 1000 Occidental Ave S, 9 pm, $47.50.

Third Annual Dope Cup

Hosted by DOPE magazine (did you know that DOPE, in this context, stands for Defending Our Plant Everywhere? You probably did, but I didn't!), this is a tournament-style competition between various strains of weed for supremacy in various categories, including highest THC, highest CBD, and people's choice. With your purchase of a ticket, you are assuming judging responsibilities, so be ready for that. Magical Butter Studios, 2225 First Ave S, dopemagazineonline.com, 8 pm, $99, 21+.

Here it's presented on 35 mm and ornamented with live musical accompaniment from the Seattle psych-rock group Master Musicians of Bukkake. Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Ave, nwfilmforum.org, 7 pm, $12.

Seattle's biggest regular cannabis farmers market is located in White Center and open every Tuesday to Saturday. Featuring the harvests—smokable, edible, what-have-you—of dozens of local farmers and vendors, the NWCM is free and open to all authorized Washington State medical marijuana patients. At this event, the vendors will be out in full force, with a party to boot, so it's the perfect time to check the place out if you haven't already. FRIDAY–THURSDAY 5/23–29

'Easy Rider'

FRIDAY 5/30

Seattle Hempfest

Music, activism, and general stoned joviality on the waterfront, now in its 23rd year. Myrtle Edwards Park, 3130 Alaskan Way, hempfest.org, $10 suggested donation.

Contrary to potheadular belief, not everything should be done while high on marijuana, including (but not limited to) driving, babysitting, voting, investing, performing surgery, and shopping at Costco. recommended
