Resting at the center of Capitol Hill's adorable 15th Avenue East community, the belovedly humble Hopvine Pub proves that bars needn't be glamorous to draw crowds of ardent regulars. The convenience of its proximity to neighborhood businesses (a video store, a drugstore, a vet clinic) easily eclipses its lackluster interior, which involves a startling abundance of bleached wood, an obligatory bar-photo collage, and a series of bizarre aluminum light fixtures. But the happy-hour list of discounted beers is remarkably long and fancy. From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. daily, an assortment of pints—including Big Time Hopfest, Roslyn Dark Lager, and Rogue Shakespeare Stout—cost $2.75 each. (Hopvine Pub, 507 15th Ave E, 328-3120. Happy Hour daily 5—7 pm.)
