The Happiest Hour

Smith on Capitol Hill

Description: A wildly beloved neighborhood joint that, unlike the string of failed bars that previously occupied its space, perpetually bursts with crowds.

Decor: Dark wood, lofty ceilings, a variety of taxidermied delights (most of it fowl), a mélange of portraits (including a weirdly moving depiction of a deformed fellow), and a couple of acquaintance-inducing communal tables (they're immense and feature bench-style seats).

Happy hour: Daily 4–6 pm and Sun–Thurs 11 pm–1 am.

Happy-hour drink specials: $1 off well drinks and draft pints, $9 pitchers (Lagunitas IPA, Manny's, Harp, and others), $2 pints/$5.50 pitchers PBR.
