great for a cheap bite

i walked past china first without going in for three years, and now i go there once a week. the lunch and dinner specials are dirt cheap ($5 at lunch at $6 at dinner) for tea, an entree, rice, bbq pork, soup, and an egg roll. i'm plenty full by the end, the food is pretty good, and i get nice sit-down service for two people without even hitting $20--and that's after tip, too. i love this place, and would easily recommend it.

You get what you pay for

Wanted a cheap and fast lunch so tried it out. I ordered a lunch special of stir-fried chicken and vegetables. When I got back to the office and opened the box, I was quite confused by the chicken. I'm not sure what part of the bird was actually cooked for this dish, but it was gray, greasy, and nasty looking. I picked every speck of it out and continued eating the vegetables and rice out of hunger, pretending that meat hadn't touched the rest of the food. If I would have just ordered a vegetarian dish, I probably would have posted a better review because what remained after the chicken wasn't half bad for the price.

YUMMMMM!!!!!

Best Sichuan beef noodle soup on the Ave. You get what your money's worth while experience one of the authentic sichuan local crusine.

Beef nood soup

The beef noodle soup is good, comparable to those found in Taiwan. The price is acceptable and the waiter/waitress is nice and polite!!

Good place to eat on the ave

The food is decent and the pricing is reasonable. The lunch specials are a good deal if you want tasty food for a cheap price.

Good food n' friendly servers!

I went to this place couple of times, and the food is great, especially if you are lookin' for soup noodle, try their beef noodle soup! it taste just like the ones in Asia, and the price is not so bad too. Also the people working there is also friendly, I would recommend my friend going there for a taste of szechuan style Chinese food!

awful in every way

I ate here with a friend once, and it was decent cheap Chinese food. So when my housemates wanted some cheap food delivered, I suggested them. Big mistake. It took them an hour and a half to get to our house in the U-district. The beef and the tofu had turned sour, and was unedible. There was a mold like substance in our vegetables, and they stank to high heaven. It was as if they had given us somebody's order from a week ago. On top of that, we had to beat a refund out of them after we had paid $40 on food we couldn't eat. More recently I decided to give them another chance, where we were treated to not one, but two rat sightings. Eat at your own risk.

yuck!

Be warned!!! This food is terrible. Delivery took 1.5 hours (we were told 45 min). The sauce for the sesame chicken separate, which was actually a good thing because they gave us a tub of gravy instead of the normal brown sauce most Chinese restaurants serve with sesame chicken. The rest of the food was greasy and unusual. If you are hungry and looking for some quick reliable delivery, avoid this place!

Great Chinese Stalwart

I've been getting the lunch special at this place since I was in my teens, exploring "the city" for the 1st time. Consistent, if sometimes a little too consistent - but the best value on the Ave with a friendly and very competent staff. Probably fastest service time of any restaurant ever. The lunch special runs daily 11-4 for $4.25. Sometimes the meat isn't so great -so try their tofu instead - filling with a great price.
