1635 East Olive Way

Wonderful pub! But, the correct address is 1635 East Olive Way, in the heart and soul of Capitol Hill.

University of Beer

One can learn everything they need to know about real beer here. Great atmosphere, a changing and often strange selection, and lack of loud music make it a place I like to go often. One point: It opens up at 6 pm, which is too late to start a Sunday afternoon of swilling pints.

Excellent Beer!

Best choice of Beers on the Hill. Only flaw is that it sometimes reeks of Bleach in there.

Best Bartenders in Town

I don't know shit about Belgian beer and it shows. I just know that I love it, largely thanks to the Monk. One would think that a bar specializing in rather rare beers (my favorite apparently comes only once every other year for a couple of weeks, "if they're lucky") would be pretentious, but these guys are fantastic, friendly, and always ready to give a good recommendation. Beyond that, the atmosphere and regulars are great too. Oh, and you can bring any food in you like. It's our go to spot for birthdays.

can be crowded but that's ok

the stumbling monk is one of those places that did it right. it's a unique place that doesn't try too hard. the beer is super expensive but it's also super good. the monk can be crowded at times which can detract from one's enjoyment - but on the whole i really like this place.
