After "gracing" this place four times and having my coffee order forgotten twice and my food order wrong once, I am throwing in the towel. Enough is enough. Even at the worst fast food dive, I've had better service. The staff (I've never seen more than two people out front) seem to wander in and out at will and after taking one order, will disappear for several minutes before taking a second. Plus, they spend more time talking to their friends than paying attention to the preparation of food and coffee order. Try Tullys; it will definitely be cheaper and MUCH faster.

Good coffee, Great Cinnamon Rolls, Great Staff

The staff is always on top of things, the pastries are yummy and I had someone bring me a sandwich at work that I personally never would have ordered (not my style) and it was delicious! Sometimes coffee can take a little more time than your average coffee shack, but they only have one machine and tons of customers.

Madison Valley - look beyond the bakery cases

Essential Bakery bread, crackers, etc. are now widely available in local grocery stores, and their pastries are sold by scads of coffee shops around town. So you don't need to come here to get those things. So while the pastries look fabulous in the display cases, what you should really get here is not on display. The soups, salads, sandwiches, and especially the crepes are really excellent. All made to order, except the soup of course, these items come out of the small kitchen hot, fresh and hearty. The crepes are especially generous, and some of the best in town. The individual size quiches are good too. Get a loaf of bread to go (it's probably fresher than the ones in your grocery store). Coffee service is the real weak spot here. It's painfully slow and the quality is inconsistent.

Almond Croisant

The great thing about this place is they have a really large selection. I tend to go for the almond croissant, but there is something for everyone. The coffee is unfortunately sort of slow and mediocre. It's big and roomy and sunny. So it's a nice place to sit with a friend. Best of all you don't see many laptops here and I REALLY appreciate that. It's a cafe as they should be - for people not machines.
