Bar Details

  • Most people come for the food and the view; the bar is a bit of an after-thought here and closes around 10 pm when the last of the diners head for home. A piano player or the occasional boogie-woogie band band entertain in the evenings. Happy hour is Mon-Fri, 3-6 pm and means $6 cocktails, $5 wine, $3 beers, and discounted appetizers. If you need a ride out to West Seattle, sweet talk any downtown hotel concierge into calling Salty's free (round-trip) limo service for you.

What a waste of time and $$$$$$$$$$$$

The view is good....

Service... so so...

Food, WAY WAY WAY overpriced... and not too good.

Ya, all the alcoholics will rate a bad as good if they can get a stiff belt.

The brunch... no good restaurant should be judged by it's brunch, just ask Tony Bourdain.

Avoid. Ray's is better, same $$$.

Chinooks/Anthony's better, less $$$$$$.

I live in Gtown

This was one of my worst meals in Seattle. I have been here twice with out of town guess. My scallops are always under cooked or over cooked. Can't win. Don't try. My guess were also disappointed with there meal. Not worth the money. Go to Duke's if your in the West Seattle area. Better food and no reservation needed. It's to bad I really want to like this place because of location but just can't recommend it to anyone.

Not worth it

Food was uninspired, exceedingly expensive for how basic it was, and the wait staff was slow and nonchalant. You can get better seafood just about anywhere in town. Even Red Lobster. The view is the only thing worth experiencing.

Another place to bring the 'rents.

This is a perfect example of one of those places that are perfect to bring mom and dad when they are visiting from the Midwest and looking for good seafood in a semi-fancy looking place. Non-threatening food, a little spendy, but whatever, mom and dad are buying!

A descent experiance

This was one of the first restaurants I've eaten at since arriving in Seattle. I ordered a plate of various shellfish that I thought was delicious and my guest also had a good meal, although we both agreed that the food was not quite worth the price and we would probably try another seafood restaurant instead of returning. Like everyone has said, the view is incredible. As a plus, we had top notch service!

What a waste of money.

OK, so I've never been to the brunch, which I hear is manna from heaven. But I have been to dinner several times, always with out-of-towners who want a fancy on-the-water experience. While I never had food there that lived up to it's price (everyone I know pretty much agrees that the food is subject to a $10-per-plate "view tax"), the last time I went there a few weeks ago was dismal. My fish was cold, atop flavorless rice. I didn't ask them to reheat since fish is so easily overcooked and that would be worse. Then, the dessert. Halfway into my creme brulee I hit ice, then realized the entire bottom half of my dessert was frozen solid and inedible. So, zero for two, I mention this to our extremely bored waiter. He offers to get me a new one. I decline, expecting that they are probably all together, sitting icy in a walk-in cooler. So we get the bill, and the creme brulee is still on there! Cold fish, inedible dessert, indifferent service, $150 for two people. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else in West Seattle for dinner and then take a walk for the lovely view.

Go ahead, be a tourist!

Ok, so I've only been to brunch there, but it's pretty fantastic. It's an event. A great place to celebrate whatever day you're trying to make special. Don't forget to make a reservation as much in advance as possible; it's a necessity. Also prepare to spend some decent bucks. Your car will be valeted quickly amid the rush of feeders coming and going. But hey, you can take the WS Water Taxi, too. Big room, nice table settings, big windows with water view. Then, it's pretty straightforward: Huge buffet, broken down into breakfast - made to order omelets, etc., your hams and turkeys - carved up for you, a big swath of seafoods, and a big selection of desserts - an impressive and unrelenting spread. It's a feeding frenzy in a nice setting. As far as ambience goes, it's efficient service with attention to detail, and you're just another group of stomach-stuffers among the chowzillas who surround you. The food? It's excellent. I prefer to skip just about everything except the seafood, fruit and salad, and rotate through the trifecta of coffee, mimosa and bloody mary. Hmmm, when are my family visiting from out of town?
