Bar Details

  • An arty bar that doubles as a performance venue, the Capitol Hill Art Center's lounge, also known as "Lower Level," is often inhabited by interesting people who are willing to talk to strangers. Check the schedule before you go or you risk arriving in the middle of a one-man play. Or just drop in during the generous happy hour: $2.50 well drinks, $2 domestic beers, and $1 off all top-shelf mixers. Once you've located CHAC on 12th, go down the loading ramp to find the Lower Level.
  • Hours: Daily 6 pm-2 am
  • Happy Hour: Mon 6 pm-close, Tues-Sun 6-8 pm

future of lower level?

the lower level (of CHAC) sometimes crowded sometimes nearaly empty. It depends on what's happening down there later inthe evening. Foosball table. Friendly laid back vibe. Punks, goths, militant vegans, heshians and average looking guys who later admit they are stand-up comedians intermingle easily here. Decent drinks, rotating drafts and bottle beer including red stripe. I heard a nasty rumor that the days of CHAC including Lower Level are numbered. Please, NOT ANOTHER condo. This is such an original space and a really cool old brick building, I hope it will stay.
