I've been to many Moroccan restaurants and had the full on, full senses experience; so I decided to make my sons Birthday celebration a Moroccan one.
I read the reviews (all old) of the Marrakesh and looked at the photo gallery and thought great lets do it. Four of us arrived at 6:00 p.m. with a reservation at 7:00 p.m. but they accommodated us as it wasn't that busy. But from that point on, I've never felt that rushed in any eatery. I wanted to relax on the worn out and food encrusted furnishings as I took in the dust covered decor. But with every bite of the average food served by the unsmiling waitress,that wanted to keep removing our plates and get to the next course I knew that the relax part wasn't going to happen. We wanted to linger to at least see the belly dancer who was to perform but we were told that it would be fifteen minutes or "who knows".
I had indicated upon arrival that this was a celebratory visit and I recalled that the web info. said Wed-Sun from 5:00p.m. on, but it also gave prices that weren't current either. When the dancer did come on the scene, she dance mostly to the front half of the place and that wasn't where we were. Plainly dressed, is how I would describe her and when she came through the back half I gave my son a five dollar tip to give to her and she over reacted to his approach and told him not to touch her, but he could slip the money into her waist line that she was holding open. I was almost glad that it was over,with "Hold your hand out for rose water" and "Here's your check". Our hands had barely time to dry before our tea was removed and we here out of there.
