Been going here for years!

Love this place. The service is always good and the food is just as amazing Kristen the GM and Mauro are there almost every night. This is a nice change from other restaurants. My family and I love this food and go as often as we can. Food is made specific for your needs. I am allergic to all seafood and my favorite dish is one cooked with prawns and I always ask for no prawns and to add chicken. There has never been a mistake or any kind of adverse reaction. This is something I appreciate given that this has not been the case else where. While I read the other reviews I have to say I don't agree. Every restaurant has an off night and they should not be marked down by people who only went one time and never gave it a second chance.

Completely unmemorable

We arrived for our 5:30 reservation, waited for 10 minutes by the door (all but two tables were occupied) and finally were seated when the owner asked the hostess why we were waiting. We had a bevy of un-interested, non-communicative waiters. Our first waiter left our party of five as quickly as he could for a party of seven. Our second waiter who didn't know if we had ordered or not - we had - but that waiter was helpful when the other wouldn't respond or responded uninterestingly to our questions. The starters were tasty, not wonderfully plated or prepared. the soups were hot and the salads were above par. The mains (4 out of 5 of our parties dishes) were: overcooked, poor-quality meat or simply flavorless. When the dishes were offered to us, we had a good description of what to expect, when it was served, we were left wanting what was described. The wine selection was great and we were all advised well on pairings with our main. We chose not to stay for dessert. Overall, the service was atrocious; this style of service, when executed properly is flattering and successful - this restaurant has yet to reach that bar. The menu is not absurdly priced - but, for its range, we were disappointed with the main dishes and service. After conferring with our friends, owners and chefs of other notable NW restaurants, we've come to the conclusion that this restaurant holds the same respect we've given it.

Awful Assiaggio

We ate at Assiaggio this last Friday twice - first and last. The two salads we ordered were good, although my Cesar had some blackened lettuce in it. It was a sign of things to come. I love duck and I order it whenever it is on a menu. I took a bite of the cauliflower and it was ready for the compost pile, having that awful sulphury taste. Then I took a bite of the duck. It was rancid! I asked my companion to verify my suspicion, and he agreed. We called this to the waiter's attention and immediately the owner, Mauro, came up and apologized. He said they would happily replace it. I was no longer in the mood for duck, and when he suggested fish, I shuddered. He insisted that no one should leave his restaurant hungry, so I asked for a simple pasta dish. They brought under cooked (not the same as au dente) spaghetti with an anemic tomato sauce and some basil. My companion got the osso bucco and seemed happy with it but neither one of us could figure out why the tomato sauce tasted like iodine and clams. We didn't notice if that was an ingredient onthe menu. When we got the check, we noticed they charged us for the pasta - $8. I thought that was ridiculous since I really didn't want to eat anything else from that kitchen. We didn't say anything because we only wanted to get out of there.

Delicious, intelligent, pleasant service

I really enjoyed my meal at Assaggio - the Papardelle Cinghiale was homey, hearty and delicious; perfect for a chilly Fall night. The staff was courteous and service was very fast for a busy Thursday evening.
