Restaurant Details

  • The classily designed Maximilien in the Market is a charming French restaurant (with great views of the Sound) good for both family outings and romantic dinners for two. The menu offers a broad range of French standards, from escargot and foie gras to cassoulet, and butter-rich sauces are prepared by the book. If you hit them at brunch time, be sure to order one of their near-perfect bloody marys. If you hit them at happy hour (Mon-Fri 5-7 pm, Sat 8-10 pm), enjoy yourself, because Maximilien can hardly be beat—in both the physical setting and menu they seem to deeply understand this late-afternoon bar phenomenon, and the $2.95 happy-hour menu, featuring a croque monsieur, a lovely tarte flambé, steamed mussels marinière; and even a French hot dog.
  • Features: Bar/Happy Hour, Breakfast/Brunch, Romantic and Free Wi-Fi
  • Cuisine: French

Tres Bien

I love this place, great food and service. Best happy hour in town. Superb view.

May be Gtown should go back to Gtown and stay there. La Campagna is spelled Campagne. Everyone is "paying" for their meal...

Great Atmoshpere, overpriced food

When you eat at this restaurant, you are paying for the atmosphere, not the food! I bought a "Croque-Monsieur", which was a fancy name for a Ham and Cheese Sandwich. At $12 I was expecting a fairly large sandwich, but this was not the case. I received a small sandwich with one PAPER-THIN slice of ham (less than HALF the thickness of supermarket ham) and one thin slice of cheese. At the MOST this should have cost $6 or $7 (that would still be high for the portion. Other meals were equally small. It would be good if they changed the portions to better reflect the price (of vice-versa).

I live in Gtown

So the service was not so great but the food was some of the best french I've had in Seattle. We had reservations and we still had a crappy seat. I requested to move since I'm paying for this meal and the reaquest was honored with bad serive. If your not dressed in designer clothes and look the part of old money expect crappy service. However if you like good french food that is better then the La Campagna tourist trap then just expect to be treated like crap. It is french after all. The service is ten times better at La Campagna but with average food so just take your pick.

had a wonderful anniversary

We decided on this restaurant at the last minute: we were so fortunate that everything turned out as beautifully as it did. The waiter was a real French waiter, the ambiance was amazing, the food (monkfish in lobster sauce, duck) was so delicious that we couldn't even talk and were reduced to making happy foodgasm noises. The French 75 that my SO ordered has assumed mythic proportions: he's ordered one at every bar we've been to since then, and none of them have lived up to it. For those on a budget, it's a bit pricey for everyday dining, but it's the perfect spot for a special occasion.
