People are crazy about the hand-shaved noodles here, especially the bright-green barley ones. They also have decent soup dumplings (the kind with the soup inside, not the kind floating-in-soup). Otherwise, Shanghai Garden is nothing super special.

Seriously Fantastic

I am obsessed with their dumplings. I dreamed about them, came up with excuses to eat them, and was late to work over these dumplings. The moo shu is delicious, so much so it inspired me to try to make it myself (but store bought pancakes) that did not work out so back I went in search of another fantastic dish--- the noodles with hoisin sauce, squid, and mushrooms blew me away. After all the amazing dishes I have had there, this noodle dish was the only rival in my heart with the dumplings. I have probably sent 20 people here and everyone has come back raving.

It's the noodles

You can ignore everything on the menu except the hand-shaven noodles. They are not to be missed. The bright green noodels that are the house speciality are particularly noteworthy. The other fare is just fine, but the notion that you'd put up with the atrocious service and cruddy ambiance of the place for anything but the specialties is silly.

The best Chinese in Seattle. Never disappoints. And the hand shaven noodles rock my world.

Noodle Justice!

You have been doing yourself an incredible disservice, nay an injustice if you have not experienced eating hand-shaved noodles. Unlike their lame machine processed counterparts-- hand-shaved noodles are cut from a block of dough as they are cooked and are denser, chewier, and much more flavorful than their homely and homogenous pasta siblings. Shanghai Garden offers a number of these tasty hand-shaved noodle dishes, delicious bean-curd sheet rolls, many veggie options-- all free of MSG.

My favorite hot and sour soup

Best hot and sour soup around, loaded with funny little mushroom clusters and tofu chunks; sort of tastes like Spaghetti-O's, but in a great way. The moo shoo chicken is killer, and your server will fold up the little burritos for you at the table, with chopsticks. Now that is great service.

Shanghai garden never lets me down. The food here is always consistently good. Try the handshaved noodles and the moo shu!

Why hasn't this been reviewed yet?

This place is waaaay better than Seven Stars Pepper. The barley green noodles are so good, expect to eat an entire plate by yourself. You can't stop putting them in your mouth. Also, I really liked the tofu with three mushrooms, in which the three are enoki, standard, and shitake. So very savory.
