Restaurant Details

  • The hand-shaved noodles are the thing here, especially in a bright-green barleygreen variation. Shanghai Garden proves that Chinese food doesn't have to be greasy, salty, and so loaded with MSG that you're stunned into speechlessness. Instead the food is fragrant, clean, and delicious.

It's the noodles

You can ignore everything on the menu except the hand-shaven noodles. They are not to be missed. The bright green noodels that are the house speciality are particularly noteworthy. The other fare is just fine, but the notion that you'd put up with the atrocious service and cruddy ambiance of the place for anything but the specialties is silly.

HAND SHAVEN NOODLES

The best Chinese in Seattle. Never disappoints. And the hand shaven noodles rock my world.

Noodle Justice!

You have been doing yourself an incredible disservice, nay an injustice if you have not experienced eating hand-shaved noodles. Unlike their lame machine processed counterparts-- hand-shaved noodles are cut from a block of dough as they are cooked and are denser, chewier, and much more flavorful than their homely and homogenous pasta siblings. Shanghai Garden offers a number of these tasty hand-shaved noodle dishes, delicious bean-curd sheet rolls, many veggie options-- all free of MSG.

My favorite hot and sour soup

Best hot and sour soup around, loaded with funny little mushroom clusters and tofu chunks; sort of tastes like Spaghetti-O's, but in a great way. The moo shoo chicken is killer, and your server will fold up the little burritos for you at the table, with chopsticks. Now that is great service.

Why hasn't this been reviewed yet?

This place is waaaay better than Seven Stars Pepper. The barley green noodles are so good, expect to eat an entire plate by yourself. You can't stop putting them in your mouth. Also, I really liked the tofu with three mushrooms, in which the three are enoki, standard, and shitake. So very savory.
