Your basic coffee-shop breakfast, in a sort of lumberjack atmosphere. The Shanty actually looks like a shanty, but never mind. Here are sympathetic waitresses who are brusque and keep your coffee cup full.
Everything about this place is eh. The service, the coffee, the presentation, the lack of seasoning, the price....eh. It's addictive in the way denny's is addictive to some. Its that comfy little reliable place for breakfast that you need not dress up for or think too hard getting there. You'll find yourself at a booth or the counter reading the paper or having idle conversation and putting your brain on auto pilot. My question is how we have arrived at a place where 3 eggs with a few cheap veggies and cheese stirred in, subpar hashbrowns and some thin toast is worth $10.00 a plate? But they've been around since 1914 (I think that's what the menu said) and I keep going back- who knows.
