its an institution not a culinary marvel

Everything about this place is eh. The service, the coffee, the presentation, the lack of seasoning, the price....eh. It's addictive in the way denny's is addictive to some. Its that comfy little reliable place for breakfast that you need not dress up for or think too hard getting there. You'll find yourself at a booth or the counter reading the paper or having idle conversation and putting your brain on auto pilot. My question is how we have arrived at a place where 3 eggs with a few cheap veggies and cheese stirred in, subpar hashbrowns and some thin toast is worth $10.00 a plate? But they've been around since 1914 (I think that's what the menu said) and I keep going back- who knows.

Great breakfast place

If you want breakfast...this is the place!!! Good food at reasonable prices. My girlfriend and I go there at least every other week.

unassuming greasy spoon

The big wooden fork and spoon on the wall do not lie. Heed their advice and arrive very hungry as the portions are enormous.
