  • Just south of Safeco Field is Pecos Pit, a joint that reportedly cooks up Texas-style heaven. Now here's where things get complicated: The original, independent owners still own the original Pecos Pit, but Gerry Kingen—the conservative d-bag who owns the overpriced, mediocre Salty's—has purchased the rights to "the concept," and he plans to install another Pecos where the original Red Robin was by the University Bridge, then make a goddamn national chain out of it. Kingen made a bunch of money as a part of Red Robin back in the day.

amazing ribs, beans, potato salad. but the greens...oh man, the greens... stop reading this and go get some. they did have gift certificates on strangermart, but i don't know if they're still available.

Best of BBQ challenged Seattle

The only complaint is they are open only for lunch Monday through Friday. Don't let the line scare you, it moves really fast. Mom and pop owned. Meat is alder smoked, so true local BBQ even if the sauce is Texas style. Beans are great, get that too. No fries, only chips, get the Fritos if you must, it goes better with it. The pulled pork is my favorite,"spiked" with a hot link in the middle or on the side if you like. If spicy makes you nervous, get mild because even the medium is pretty warm. Now I'm drooling just thinking about it!

I dare you to try the spicy sauce

This is absolutely fantastic BBQ. The pork is smoky and tender and the beef brisket is even better. Very generous meat-to-bread ratio. My only complaint would be that I wish there were more side items to choose from, but the baked beans that are offered are delicious. Highly recommended

Darn good BBQ

I love BBQ and I keep changing my favorite seattle establishment but Pecos Pit wins hands down when it comes to consistency, friendly staff and overall quality. You'd better be hungry and if you can't take the heat stick to the mild sauce cause the medium will kick your butte.

Without a doubt, THE BEST

I have been searching for good bbq since James Beal's "Wild Boar" closed in Seattle. Great BBQ was lost but now it is found in the Sodo area of Seattle.

when you want the heavy

This place is all about piles of smoky meat drenched in tangy maroon sauce on a soft, white bread hamburger bun wrapped in silvery paper, served at an outdoor counter at the edge of a dusty parking lot surrounded by industrial warehouse buidlings, and eaten on a rickety picnic table next to a chain link fence. In other words, it's frickin awesome. Spicy, messy, sticks to your ribs wholesome goodness. Nothing else like it anywhere near downtown.
