Green star Baja Bistro (Beacon Hill)

2410 Beacon Ave S
Seattle, WA 98144
(206) 323-0953

In the morning and early afternoon, Baja Bistro functions as a coffeehouse and Mexican diner, with Stumptown coffee, a case of pastries, chilaquiles, breakfast tacos, and so forth. At dinnertime, Baja Bistro becomes an adamantly casual outpost for authentic Baja California–style Mexican cuisine. Owner Oscar Castro says, "All our recipes are my mom's and grandmother's... everything's created in-house—tortillas, tortilla chips, salsa. Even the margarita mix is fresh-squeezed." The result is simple, humble, family-style Mexican food of a quality that can't be faked—get the chile relleno or the verde burrito. And speaking of margaritas, starting at 3 p.m., Baja Bistro's bar is open, offering a happy-hour menu until 7 p.m. and drinks all night long—and becoming very, very gay on Wednesdays. This place is magical.

Baja Bistro is a gem. It epitomizes what a neighborhood join should be. The service is friendly, sincere and without attitude. The crowd is a delightful mix and everyone seems genuinely welcome. The food is fresh, inexpensive and delicious (Puerco en Salsa Verde! Homemade chips and tortillas!) And the margaritas are the best I've had in town (all fresh, no mix!)

Gone downhill

This place was great a year ago, but now the food just doesn't seem as fresh or flavorful.

Awesome

We live in Beacon Hill. Baja Bistro/Java Love means we can get hard alcohol within walking distance, without karaoke. Also good food, super friendly (sincere) service, and great coffee. But seriously--margaritas in Beacon Hill? Awesome.

Cheese Torta

Love me some baja bistro. Small place & good homemade food. The cheese torta is my favorite. The staff are relaxed & welcoming. Good morning tunes.

My only complaint is that there's not more seating...

Because this place is so popular. That's because the food is so good. Just a nice, classy place for good, fresh food with great service.
