Restaurant Details

  • Diners at the Central Cinema can eat in the bistro or in the theater itself. There is nothing more amazingly perfect than watching a good movie with a well-made personal pizza and a big glass of beer. Warning: Eating with forks and real plates in the dark is just as tricky as it sounds.
  • Features: Bar/Happy Hour and Cheap Eats
  • Cuisine: Pizza and Pub Grub
  • Serving Hours: Hours depend on movie times!

Bar Details

  • The Central District's Central Cinema offers a glorious, silver-screened reprieve. The booths are warm and plush; the meals are freshly prepared and delivered to your seat—a stone-oven-baked pizza ($8) with beer ($4) is a standard but faultless combination, especially followed by the chocolate caramel ganache cake ($6)--and the varying movie screenings are consistently charming and idiosyncratic.
  • Happy Hour: Mon-Fri 9 pm-close ($3 pints, $10 pitchers, $5 pizza, $1 popcorn, wine specials).
  • Features: Full Menu, Gay-Friendly, Happy Hour and Good for Groups

Good pizza

I've been going to Central Cinema since it opened, and while the pizza has changed recipes a couple of times, the crust has always been excellent, with a solid, flavorful sauce and several good topping options. Try the one with potatoes and black olives- sounds funny, tastes great, especially with beer. Salads and popcorn are good too. Service is friendly, and the bistro is a good hang-out, even if you're not going for the movie

Great concept, food needs help!

Pizza toppings are great, but the sauce and crust just don't hold up. I do love watching old B flicks with a cold pint of beer brought out to me!

room for improvement

I so love the idea of this place, and the movies they show are great, but the food could use a little work. Big servings, but not really so tasty. Come on, you know you can do better!

You don't have to go there for movies

Great place to go eat when a movie is playing in the other room, you'll have the place to yourself. Good simple food at good prices. A calzone and salad hits the spot. And the deserts are way above average for this price range. Oh, and did I mention the super friendly owners and staff? Even if you don't want to see a movie, it's worth the trip. And if you are there for a movie, the food is well, gravy.
