  • The pork ribs are meaty and succulent, served "dry" with the sauce on the side, and the brisket is so seductively tender you'll blush. There's also chicken, wonderful sausages, and a number of sandwiches, including the Slow Joe Pork Sandwich—tons of smoky pulled pork on a hoagie roll, smothered in sauce.

Oof.

Granted severe bloat can set in after a meal here, but the meat is excellent (the chicken is always really moist and perfectly cooked, and the ribs are scrumptious) and I really like the original flavor of their bbq sauce. Furthermore on Friday I purchased from this establishment the single best piece of pecan pie I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Sold!

So-So

I visited for lunch recently; Found the pulled pork flavorless although a nice serving. Blackened Brocolli was a disappointment as were the sauces. Thai sauce was the most flavorful while the "hot sauce" had no kick. "Original" sauce had a tad more spice, but disappointing. Too heavy on the cucumim for my taste. Won't be going back.

GOOD!

I love the bbq at this place, it is one of my favorites. The brisket is especially delicious, slow cooked to perfection. The mac n cheese, soooo good! My only complaint is the bbq labeled spicy isn't all that spicy, other than that, good bbq.

Good, But Tame

This is a good, solid BBQ joint that most Northwesterns will appreciate. The BBQ is pretty mild, but it's prepared with care.

Whachoo talkin' about Willis?

Smokin' Pete's is the BOMB! The meat is tender, succulent, the multiple BBQ sauces delish and the sides superb. Did I mention pie? Uh-huh. Don't miss out. Bought their "complete Thanksgiving dinner" last year and were downright shocked at what was, quite simply, THE most tender, juicy turkey any of us had ever eaten in our lives. The only downside was that they forgot to put the container of gravy in our bag - a gravy-less Thanksgiving is a sad thing - but the food was so great I had to cut them slack.

Real barbecue!

I've been eating at Pete's since they opened and they have the best brisket and pulled pork hands down in the city. I'm orinally from Texas and they come the closest to home. I don't know what the previous posts are talking about because they serve it up smoky and tender ever time. I appreciate the sweet tea too.

ONLY good for the Veggies!

Nice to know there is a way to get a good meal at this BBQ PLACE - don't eat the MEAT!?? Based on my experience DON'T because as much as it won't hurt you, it also won't taste good at all. It's tough and resembles cardboard in most respects. Nice to know the veggie plate is good. Worst of all it the fact that it looks like it is going to be really good... bait and switch.

Good for the veggies too!

I stayed away from this place because I'm not a real big meat eater, but my old man and I were stranded and hungry in Ballard (damn you latest incarnation of Cacioppio Bros for no longer serving sammiches!) so I was willing to eat meat if it meant not eating my fist. Surprisingly there is a "beans and greens" plate for veggies, and even more surprisingly it is very delicious. I added a side of Mac N Cheese to my meal and was unable to finish it. We have been craving a "meat and 2 sides" place since leaving the South and Smokin' Petes fits the bill. Portions are good and the food is delicious. I can't wait to go back. And don't worry about the hot sauce - it ain't hot at all.
