Bar Details

  • Licorous is the renowned restaurant Lark's little sister/lounge—all gussied up, pretty and popular. The name means "tempting the appetite," and the changing menu of small plates has plenty of tempting options—ceviche, foie gras bonbons, little toasts topped with various delectable things, lamb chops sold singly. House cocktails include the 12th Avenue (rhubarb-infused vodka with Lillet, pink but not girly) and the bracing Prickly Pear (made with tequila and Clear Creek pear brandy). And, for the wallet-impaired, relative to Lark, Licorous is a cheap date.

Love the decor, delicious little bites

We popped in on a Tuesday night whim for dinner. It was surprisingly romantic and the food was absolutely heavenly. We did find that the prices were so reasonable because the portions are quite small. I'm happy I had room for dessert because that was exquisite as well. Definitely will return, probably for just appetizers and drinks (or just dessert and drinks!)

Come for cocktails, stay for dessert

The star attractions here are the signature cocktails - many made with house-infused liquors. After many visits every drink has been perfect. For an extra $2 you can get a small bite of food that's been exquisitely paired to your beverage. The selection of small plates changes frequently. Most are good, some are amazing, only a few have disappointed. There are a few larger plates available too, but this really isn't a place to go if you want a full dinner. This is all about top notch cocktails and small nibbles. Return later in the evening for dessert, and try the brown butter hazelnut financiers, served with espresso caramel. They're small, delicate and cooked to order, and occasionally come out overcooked (just a few seconds of baking time probably makes the difference). But when they're right, they are one of the best desserts in town.
