Bar Details

  • Nijo's tiny, modern bar, is very purple. The chef is from Mashiko, but the location is on a dull block that tends to be an energy vortex. A glass clamshell holds boxes of matches from McCormick and Schmick's, the Bookstore Bar, and Chapel. The sushi is excellent. So is the sake.

My favorite

Their happy hour prices are great and so is their maki sushi. I haven't tried much of their sashimi myself, but I've heard great things about it. I've eaten here about once a month for the past two years and I've always had good service.

Whatever.

Unimpressive. The sushi was great, but the rolls were unimaginative and kind of bland. We frequent a place in eastern Ohio that is WAY better than this. The service was OK, but the atmosphere is kind of generic. Maybe I expected too much.

Super Yuppy

I needed a place to take my family who were staying at a hotel by Pike Place. They wanted sushi, so I looked it up and took them here. All the sushi was done in that super yuppy fashion, lots of weird unnecessary ingredients like rice paper and deep fried fishes, all covered in sugary or mayonaise-y sauces for some reason. If you like your sushi made for Americans who are afraid of raw fish, or if you would like to take that girl you met while drunk in Pioneer Square on a date, this is the place. The atmosphere is very yuppy-ish, with dark woods and purple curtains and lots of "design." The service was terrifying. We had to get up and give the server our check because we wanted to get out and she was chatting with the bartender instead of helping us out. Oh man, this is not a five-star restaurant. Fantastic Sushi!

Come during Happy Hour for the drink specials (they have two per day!) but don't forget to order the sushi - so so yummy! Great place to go after work and if you are starving from walking around Pike Place Market
