  • In a neighborhood where bright lights and bare linoleum can be all the décor you get, the International District's new Vegetarian Bistro is downright cute. A radish cake is a promising start, with a good crunchy sear on the exterior giving way to soft-sweet-pungent innards flecked with carrots and a pink meat-like substance. Surely these were accidental bits of pork belly; perhaps the kitchen was operating under a bacon-friendly definition of vegetarian. There are also plenty of nonfake meat dishes on the menu. Beyond the food, the service at the Bistro is exceptionally cheery.

Are they still closed?

I have eaten here 3 times and it was sooo good! It is the only place in town I have found fun, vegetarian dim sum. I was thinking of going there today. Sad face.

Outstanding...Sadly

Doors were shuttered when we walked by there on 12/27/08...with a sing up that says:

Closed for Business
Thank you for your Patronage.

Place looked pretty empty inside too. A shame. It seems like all the restaurants with somewhat decent taste end up going the way of the dinosaur while traditional grainforest crunch places get to stay open.

Yummy!

Vegetarian Dim Sum Makes Me So Happy! Everything I have ordered here is so delicious. I especially love the wonton soup, vegetable dumplings, and hum bun. I personally prefer it over Bamboo Gardens as far as vegetarian chinese food goes. The service is friendly and there is a lot of space for large groups of people too.

Delicious

I'm not even vegetarian and this is my new favorite restaurant. The Orange "Chicken" and soy chow mein are amazing!

An Absolute Dream

This is hands-down my favorite vegetarian restaurant in all of Seattle. Granted, I have been a vegetarian for 14 years and therefore have never had real Dim Sum. But my meat-eating companions swear it tastes almost as good as the real thing, and you don't have to worry about whether or not the meat advertised is actually from the alleged animal. Because it's all from the same little creature called Gluten. Accuracy aside, it's just spectacular food. Stuff yourself silly with Shu Mai, Mango "Chicken", and Hum Bao as well as all the tea you can drink. Leave with your wallet almost as full as your stomach.

Insanely Good!

This place is sooooooo delicious. The dim sum has some unfamiliar items, but I liked them better than the more traditional things. The yuba rolls are deep-fried tofu skins that have a strange crunchy-softness that I really loved. Also, the salt-n-pepper tofu is incredible. The writer is a staff member of The Stranger
